So we packed up our bags again and boarded a small boat. This would be our home for the next 3 days. We had booked on the Raggamuffin island cruise. In total there was 17 of us on the boat and 3 crew. We came from the Uk, America and Australia. We set sail for our first full day of sailing not knowing what to expect and what the weather would do as more storms are due!
The first day we sailed, caught barracuda off the back of the boat and went for a snorkel along the way. The reef was pretty and we saw barracuda, loads of different reef fish and a few small rays.
As usual I got burnt! When ever I snorkel I manage to burn! That evening we docked at our island that would be home tonight. All 17 of us were in shock our island was a little piece of sand in the middle of the blue ocean, no people, no roads, no houses, nothing! There were some shelters to put our tents up under. The group then spent some time snorkelling, swimming, and playing in the kayaks. Great fun. For dinner we had
prawns and the barracuda we had caught. Followed by lots of Rum punch and getting to know each other. We had a really nice group of people.
The next morning we all awoke to the gorgeous island we swam and looked at the view none of us really wanting to leave our island! We set sail again and headed out to sea passing small islands we stopped and snorkled which woke us all up. We saw more reef fish, barracuda, lobster etc. we carried on sailing in the afternoon all taking in the lovely clear sea around us. Our captain then dropped us out at sea and told us to snorkel into the island called Tobbaco Caye this was were we were setting up the tents for the evening. This was the best snorkelling ive ever done. Along the swim in we saw reef fish, barracuda, lobster, sea snake, massive hermit crabs and then just as i thought it was over we saw a massive southern sting ray. Swimming straight by us, he was 5ft across, huge! Then 2 angel rays swam past also around 4ft across with tails about aslong as me! They were amazing to be in
the water with. Then we saw another 2 southern sting rays pass by. This was the best experience ive ever had snorkelling.
We all arrived on the island very happy, we pitched our tents and explored the bigger island. Not that it had much but beach, 1 shop, 1 bar and a few rooms. We then all had lobster for our tea cooked on the bbq. Yummy.
The last day we set sail stopping to snorkel and swim off the boar a few times. The water is warm, refreshing and so clear. The group took turns jumping off the top of the boat into the ocean. We stopped at an island called Southwater Caye for a swim, really pretty. As we set sail to our final stop we were joined by a dolphin who decided to follow the front of the boat for awhile. Lovely to see.
We then reached Placencia in south Belize our final stop. We said goodbye to the crew and all went our seperate ways to our hotels. In the eveing we all met up in a bar for food, drink and to talk about the amazing few days we had had. I
would recommmend this boat trip to anyone. Not cheap but well worth the money. Amazing. Tomorow me and Phill have decided to try and get back up to Mexico to relax for a few more days...
