July 4, Getting Ready to Hike I traveled to Grenoble, France by way of Lyon, London, Houston, and Albuquerque. We started at the Hotel Des Alpes, two blocks from the train station. It was a hot and humid day and there was no cooling in the hotel room. Grenoble is a past host city of a Winter Olympics and had a gondola called the telepherique the went up to le fort de la Bastille, giving a good view of a nearby mountain called le Moucherotte. May 4-5, 1995 Travel to Kathmandu I left the Albuquerque Sun Port at 9:45 AM and arrived in LA at 10:45, and checked in to Thai Air. Some of our group was traveling on the same flight, while others went through Europe and India. We recognized each other by our similar travel duffle bags. It was 12 hours and 30 min to Seoul, Korea. We were on the ground for about 1 hour and then 5 hours to Bangkok. We arrived at the Amari Airport Hotel about midnight local time. It was $84 a night there and the rooms were nice.
