| 16th September 2009 TheSubbus | JMT... - From: Of columnar basalt & oldest living things are u really thinking of doing the JMT, with or without Srishti?? |
| 16th September 2009 TheSubbus | - From: Alaska's Kenai Peninsula why did you choose to not take the cruise? |
| 9th September 2009 Shiva | Considering doing JMT??? That's totally wIcked!! - From: Of columnar basalt & oldest living things Wow I cant even dream of doing the JMT. I will be glad with the thought and knowledge that I did one small part of the trail! Nicely written, It was only late on labor day when I got a call from one of my friend, who was trying to venture into Yosemite, did I know that Tioga was closed, else, I would have warned you sooner! |
| 9th September 2009 dragonlady | Methuselah was not marked - From: Of columnar basalt & oldest living things I'm sure it was disappointing for you, not being able to see the oldest tree, but it was probably the best thing for the tree to protect it from idiots. It can't be replaced once it's gone. We have an ancient species of pine in Australia, the Woolamai Pine, that was thought to be extinct and was found growing in a single valley in the Northern Territory. Botanists decided that the best way to protect it was to propagate as many as possible and make then readily available so that plant collectors would not want it for its rarity and dig it up or damage it. That wouldn't work for Methuselah, as his age is the attraction. You had some wonderful scenery on your trip. I enjoyed reading about it. Very different to Australia. |
| 4th September 2009 usha | blossoms - From: Blossom Trail hi ganesh and meera what beautiful pictures. i really felt as if i have seen them in person. please do send the other links of your travels if you can. regards usha |
| 6th August 2009 Robert | Whistler in Winter - From: The town of Whistler You are correct about Whistler being magic in the Winter. I think every British Columbian, including myself, should experience Whistler in the Winter time at least once. I have been very fortunate to visit Whistler in both the Summer, and Winter times and there is something about the falling snow in the village that is pure magic. |

| 11th July 2009 Shiva | Great set of falls, very well narrated - From: Into the Shasta country Love ur shots of all the falls, especially Hedge Creek. That would make an excellent large poster framed and hung in a living room! Also McCloud is very beautiful, I would sharpen and saturate this a touch bit! Also your narration is very nice, kept me interested in the entire thing. Sad to note though that you havent posted any shot of Whiskeytown falls. If you stop sufficiently down, you can still get this fall with a reasonably slow shutter! All in All, excellently written and great trip! |
| 10th June 2009 Thilak | - From: Into the Shasta country You sure are getting better by the account in writing. Well narrated. You guys got a handheld gps, right? :) Seems like a great place. Yes, I would have loved a shot of the train too! (the whole train) |

| 7th October 2008 Shiva | Excellent description, very useful! - From: Alaska's Kenai Peninsula The title says it all, just wanted to point out a minor thing. The 500mm lens is not a macro. Its plain Telephoto lens. The longest macro designed till date is the 180mm one. Also how can we book the hostels? do we go there and book a room, or do you book from here prior to planning a trip? |
| 18th September 2008 travelbuffs | :-) - From: An urban fort Thank you! |
| 6th August 2008 vividvoyagers | Congrats - From: An urban fort Hey Congrats for the new little one! :) |
| 2nd July 2008 cegrmr | Thank you - From: An urban fort I miss Fort Point. Did you get a chance to go hiking in the presidio behind the Fort? About 500 yards SW of the Fort, there are some look out (cannon) points where they would fire at any naval vessels restricted from coming ashore. Really cool stuff. I do miss the vastness of the Fort itself. Because of retrofitting purposes of the Bridge above, I couldn't take my Godson to play inside. It was closed. I think everyone should experience what we all have... one the the most important Historic Landmarks in Northern California. BTW... Sir Frances Drake's bronze plaque was found right next to the fort. It stated that he "officially claimed California (not known as that back then) in the name of the queen". California actually belongs to Britain. Thanks again, Ryan Rodriguez |

| 22nd May 2007 Geetha Mahadevan | Beach, campsite and national park - deadly combo - From: Zip Zap Zoom Dear Meera and Ganesh, Lovely to reach the blog - The pictures are beautiful too. Keep travelling and keep writing You have a combo like this in India too - The Point calimere wildlife sanctuary - The beach is a Kilometer away from the forest . You find the rare Blackbuck ( an antelope) here. Grassland line the beach and graduate into the forest . Parts of the forest are swampy . Wonderful birdlife. I have spent 8 days camping in this forest studying the birds. One night , soon after sunset, we saw huge clouds of birds ( himalayan wagtails) crossing the ocean to Srilanka . For six hours thousands of them crossed over . We watched the whole episode messimerised at the natural spectacle. Srilankan forest are 18 miles across the ocean. The oldest lighthouse in India ( working condition) built by the french is on this park. You note brought back such wonderful memories of Point Calimere. Lets all go to there together sometime. Take care geetha |
