Hey!! Thanks so much for the support! The hostages Im unsure of but the camera thing was my deal... I was new to the area and wasnt sure how everyone would react to my filming them so I turned it off. BUt I have many more left!
HEY TREY! great to catch up to you on your blog, your pics are good and I liked the video at the market, it looked like someone at the end made you put the camera down - what was that about? Did the locals that were napped get released, we need an update! I assume you have stats on all the pageant participants, they are really decked out for the competition. Keep up the good works and know that my BSF group has you on our prayer list and are keeping up with your activities by this blog. Hug all the kids. UK
no tv you say? i love how you wrote no tv like 4 times. lol. thats a great motto to live by also.. it looks like you have had a really great experience so far. but i figured as hot as it is down there you woulda kept the shaved head? is it cuz it takes to much time to do it? that pic of you guys around the dinner table seems like it was a lotta fun. does that happen like.. every sunday? or was that just a special party?

oh so happy So glad you are doing good and are safe! :) Mom was freaking out a little the last couple of days thinking the bad guys got you.... Morgan is crawling and even pulling up now! She just turned 6 months, so this is all VERY early! She will be a busy girl, I'm guessing! Hope you had a very Happy Easter- I ate your chocolate bunny for you. Love you bunches!
Be careful Trey,
Be careful and try not to make any friends with militans while you're over there. I know they may seem nice at first, but I don't want to have your picture posted on CNN for being held hostage by farming militants!
Your pictures are beautiful and I can't wait to see more as you post them. Please be safe and know we're praying for you.
~Meredith, Chris and Taylor
Never a dull moment It must be somewhat stressful that a local militia kidnapped some tourists nearby. I hope that they are released soon without mishap.
I am glad that the little boy that broke his arm was able to receive medical treatment without significant delay. Although it must be disconcerting that he didn't get medical treatment immediately; however he should be able to recover without issue.
Thank you for continuing to send all of the beautiful pictures.
Cheers,
Jonathan

Welcome to your new adventure! It sounds like you had a mini adventure traveling to Rio Dulce. The area where Hotel Backpackers is located looks very beautiful; especially being on the water. Is the body of water there a lake or river?
You are brave to be using that shower. I don't know if I would be comfortable enough with that wiring job. :)
I just want to let you know that I am very humbled by your journey to Guatemala. You have a very good heart and have my sincerest respect. Please update your blog as time permits.
Cheers,
Jonathan

Que alegria! Hey, just checking travel blog and found yours. Let me tell you... you are going to have a wonderfull time there! I know it. (I was born in Guatemala) Enjoy every second, and if you don't mind I will keep reading your blog.
I'm 29 years old, male, from Texas in the U.S. annd looking for adventure and opportunities to help others out. Ready and willing to travel the world.
I first decided to do volunteer work in 2007 but was unable to make it happen because of my career. Today however I'm at a place where I can afford to take 3 months off to volunteer my services in Central America. It's going to be tough there, no hot water, bunk style living without air-conditioning and I'll have to wash my clothes by hand. A shocking change for someone coming from America, but this is the way these children live everyday. Th... full info
