Good to walk before all the shops have opened, the horns are blaring and the cycle rickshaws threaten to cripple you. A mist is on the river these mornings, in fact the sun is in a haze all the day long, which makes for spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Sometimes I walk along the ghats, a few early morning bathers, a sadhu washing his lungi, goats, dogs and cows still huddling together till things warm up. Sometimes someone in meditation, quietly sitting, oblivious to all. Other mornings, like today, I take the back lanes, the chai guys are up and serving,and the samosas and jelabis being boiled up.
