I have traveled in 30-some countries and all but 4 of the states of the United States. My husband and I prefer independent travel, and particularly like road trips. Last year we stayed on the island of Siphnos for a week in a small house from VRBO, then went to Ireland for a 7-day road trip around Southwestern Island before visiting friends on the Beara peninsula for three days. On that same trip we spent a couple of rainy day in London, long enough to see the British Museum and the Underground War Rooms and Churchill Museum. After seeing the so-called Elgin marbles in the British Museum, forty-eight hours later we were in Athens and visited the new Acropolis Museum, which officially opens in June this year.

Since then, we have spent a week in Albuquerque and taken road trips to Eastern Oregon and Texas Hill Country. Next month I will be going to New Orleans for the Food and Wine Festival at the Monteleone Hotel. I mention all of this to give you an idea of my traveling life. I hope to pick up ideas here from articles and to be helpful to people who ask questions about the places I have visited.
