Great spirit. I love your travels. I am going to Kerala for 2 weeks and I wish I could travel like you, without a fixed plan, without much luggage... proper hippie travel. I was born and brought up in Kerala before moving abroad. My dad has hijacked my old Hero Honda and would not let me have it back due fear for my safety. what I would love to do is to rent an Enfield and travel around.
Reply to Gautam :-) Nice observation about he Kerala massage..the thing is till now I have never come across a female giving me a Kerala masage and since it was the butt that was killing me, I did not want it to be massaged by a guy!!!
(Btw I did not take painkillers, I just suggested it ;-) )
With lungi and belt and my kind of super complexion, I would have looked like Rajanikanth and then I would have needed a flying bullet; so I just stuck to good old track pants and tshirt (ya the treat part was also a strong consideration)
You Rock !!! Dude.... Dude..let me accept...you have come a long way as a blogger...really enjoyed reading...nicely tied story and pics...just one thing i did not quite understand...why the hell you not treat your butt..with kerala massage...which is so popular..instead of taking pain killers...thats so stupid...anyway...thats how you are at times...unpredictable...
another thing....what was your dress code....lungi with belt on it? ....hehehe...that would have been a picture perfect ...with treat for others while riding....

Wonderful !!! Discussing Indian culture and tradition in long boring seminars is an easy task. Having a real feel by getting into it is something different. And there comes individuals like Mr. Saurabha Ranjan. Let me guess! This is a man who loves his country and its cultural rainbow. But when others are satisfied with a proven fact of rainbow having seven colors, Mr. Ranjan defies the theory and successfully explores new colors whenever he dives into it. But not everyone can do this. I have felt that traveling in general class is one of the most painful experiences but then there are thousands and thousands of Indians who travel daily this way. You got to have a heart to face the challenges. You must accept everything as it comes to you, even when you are not ready for it. Be it the irritating wake up call of a co passenger when he energetically suggests visiting Murudeshwar. Accept it as it is attitude and he lands in one of not very known (might be known in that part of country) but a real wonder and culturally rich heritage. To really enjoy the natures true beauty you got to feel it. This is what you have done friend. Traveling all alone without a proper plan and destination in mind is not always one of very attractive ideas taking shape in a normal Indian guy keeping all the language and safety issues, nevertheless its extremely amazing. It gives a feeling of accomplishment and feeds your hunger for exploration, brings you closer to Mother Nature and gives you some practical lessons of life. I love to read the travel blogs by you and would love to hear more. Keep traveling and keep blogging us about your explorations. Good luck!!
Adventurous trip It has been really nice to read ur experience.. nicely described ur trip... it is now making me too to have such unplanned trip all of sudden.. gud.. hope u remember me.. we met Muni's brother in chennai marriage with deepak and debdeep.....
U missed some or exctine places near HI brother,
I am from Kanyakumari..U missed some more beautiful places near to Kanyakumari....Its Padmanabapuram Temple....Asia's Tallest Mattur bridge...Thirparappu falls...and more.
An Ode of a journey I like the way this story has been narrated. Dear Saurabha...your story reflects the true emotions and adventure you have enjoyed in your journey to Kanyakumari. I sincerely assume it cannot be as simple as you described it. There must have been more to it....like the language problem and little knowledge of the places to live or the mode of transportation. But the true adventurist like you would never care for conveyance and convenience. What an adventure is if one doesn’t face some problems and come out with excitement. Like your experience of finding a place so nice and cheap to live, the walk on deserted roads, the “Idly house” food, and at the end to find the end of Indian land. I can't even imagine the thrill to be at a place that’s a junction of three seas Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea!!!! I would surely love to relive your experience, especially a train journey so long as 36 hrs in festival season and that too on an impulsive decision to travel with "General Ticket" in Sleeper Class... Marvelous!!!
Trinethra This is kool. Loved your blog in and out. you are gonna start next hippy movement...i beleive.
