We had another exciting day today. We were up early for the sunrise again. Next we packed our gear and headed to Placencia Village for breakfast at Wendy's. Local spot recommended to us. The food was good. Kasie was adventurous and ordered the fish. It was a whole deep fried fish. She really liked it. A local lady stopped at our table on the outside seating deck and we got a hot cinnamon and sugar donut from her. We also had one of the local pups join us for breakfast. He slept underneath the table while we ate. His collar said Kinkin on it. We gave him one of our fry Jack's after the meal and he casually ate it. He just nibbled at it at first and then finally ate the rest of it. We ... read more

Another great day in Belize. Sriracha got up early to get photos of the sunrise. Not sure if there is something wrong with her? Up early! Breakfast was delicious and we discovered "fry jacks". Delicious triangle fluffy puffs of dough. After breakfast we drove to the end of the peninsula. We walked around and looked in some shops. We decided to book a snorkeling tour for tomorrow. Stopped at the "Supa Maket" to get some snacks. Anyone in Wisconsin or the U.S. that needs toilet paper needs to take a trip here. There is not a shortage of toilet paper at the stores. We spent the remainder of the day at our resort. Lots of activities. One round of bocce ball. Sriracha and Pedro played the supersized Jenga. Sriracha and Lori tried the stand up paddle ... read more

Travel from Chicago to Belize went well today. We didn't have any issues in Chicago and the airport did seem busy with spring break travelers. Our flight was on time and really no issues. We arrived in Belize and made our way into the beautiful sunshine and warmth of Belize. The disembarking of the plane was down the steps and a short walk across to the airport building. Before entering the building we were sent through a line with a short interview with the "health department". "What state did you originate from prior to boarding the plane in Chicago?" and "Have you traveled to any other countries in the last 30 days?". Without too much delay they shuffled us into the building. It seemed that they were doing more extensive interviews on some of the passengers. ... read more

Travel home went well. Slow travels through Chicago airport. Immigration and customs were slow. We landed at 2:30. We stood in line to get the passport checked. Stood in line to get through immigration. Collected our bags and then stood in line with the bags to get out of the baggage area. We finally got out of the airport at 4:30. ... read more

We checked into our hotel and headed to the catacombs. 2 trains and about 10 stops to get there. There was a long line 3/4 of the way around the block. It was raining so we got in our place at the back of the line and Pedro went to get umbrellas. The security guy said it was going to be 3 hours. We took turns running errands. First to get coffees and then to get macaroons. We entertained ourselves with "eye spy" and watching the wildlife. Pigeons, sparrows and some really cute rats. ... read more

Traveling today from Lyon to Paris. We are having excellent weather on our trip between 65 and 75 most of the day. Perfect for long walks. We had only a short walk today from our hotel to the Metro station. Sriracha had a bit of an issue getting her bag through the gate at the Metro, but otherwise we have the Metro figured out very well. We purchased tickets for the 1104 train from Lyon to Paris. We are in the first class section and have very comfortable seats and a nice table. The wifi on board is excellent and thus it is easy to get my blogging done. Our hotel in Paris is only one block form Paris Gare Lyon which is the main train station in Paris.... read more

We had a beautiful day today in Lyon. Kasie and Sriracha were with Clara and her family at an amusement park outside of Lyon. We planned to take to train to a vineyard outside of Lyon. The concierge at the hotel had given us instructions on the trains we needed to take. Unfortunately it was bad information and we were not at the correct train station. We decided to abandon the idea of the winery and walk back to our area of town as we had not seen this area of town. We had nice walk along the river. We had lunch at a restaurant on rue de Boef. After lunch we went through some of the shopping areas and then over to the art museum. We walked through the art museum. We saw lots of ... read more

Today we met with Clara and her family. In the morning we walked through old town until noon. We met Clara and her family at Moustache for lunch. We had a great time talking about when Sriracha and Clara were together in both th U.S. and in France in 2016. Clara and Charlise both go to school and have English in school so they both speak it very well. Virginie and Jimmy both speak some English as well so we didn't really have any issues with conversation. After lunch we took the Funiculaire Fourvaire, an uphill tram that is part of the Meto, to see the Basilique Notre Dame de Fourviere. The basilica was very beautiful. The overlook of the city was amazing. We walked down past the Roman Theatres and then through the gardens back ... read more

Travel today from Paris to Lyon. Took the subway from near our hotel with one transfer to the train station Gare de Lyon in Paris to Lyon. We got our tickets and waited for our train. It was on time and we had no issues. Once in Lyon it took us a bit to find the Metro station to take the subway to our hotel. There was construction going on and we had difficulty finding the stairs down, but after we figured it out we had no issues on the subway. Our hotel is only a few minutes walk from the subway station Bellecour. Sriracha was again taking pictures all day, but those will have to be added later. We had dinner at a nice restaurant with the creme brulee to finish the meal.... read more

A long day in Paris. Breakfast at the Hotel Juliana was delicious. We walked to the Eiffel Tower and decided the lines were too long in the morning. We decided to walked to Trocade'ro and got some photos of the Eiffel Tower from there. We walked down Kleber Avenue to Arc de Triomphe. We did a full 360 of it and then we Went down the Avenue des Champs. Sriracha shopped to get some shoes as it seems she forgot to pack her walking shoes and only brought her flip flops. She got some new Adidas. We continued on the Musse' de Lourve. We decided it was time to try the subway, so we purchased our tickets and got on with plans to head back to our hotel. At the station to transfer lines we found ... read more
