YEY!!!! I'm back! So so excited to be here and a fairly painless night! I am quite tired now tho as I had a 26 hour day yesterday. Well, having flown for 12 hours to Hong Kong I arrived rather early and with no idea where to stay, where to go, what to do etc! In desperate need of a tourist information I wandered for about 1 hour looking and then eventually gave up and left the airport heading for Kowloon. Hey guys, I'm sat in the airport waiting for my connecting flight to Hong Kong which is in 3 1/2hours time so I'm 1 1/2 hours into it now! Was chatting to a lady for an hour and she's now gone to San Francisco to see her fiancee so just me and my credit card for company! Had a blast in Melbourne, mainly drinking lots with Bec and laughing lots too. We also went on Ramsey Street and met Janelle Timmons which was tres cool and very cheesey! Well, I've seen the big rock now! Spent 3 days in the outback travelling from Alice Springs to Ayers Rock (Uluru) and Kings Canyon in a 4x4 landrover and sleeping under the stars in swags which are like a bivi really but with a built in mattress! The group was only 9 people which was superb as most tours tended to be in buses and 25people - so we were faster in our jeep thing and more intimate! Hello! It seems like ages since I last wrote a blog! But to be fair after the antics of the last one a rest was well deserved! I've just finished my scuba diving course and am now a certified open water diver! Did 9 dives in total on the great barrier reef and that included a night dive with Sharks which I was so not comfortable with and have since decided that night diving is not my cup of tea at all! Wow! Where do I start! Ok, Fraser Island: Met up with 8 new friends: Askar, Mike, Mikkell, Lucy, Kirsty, Georgia, Olivia, and Katie. they are awesome! The driving was really tricky over sand dunes but only me and the other Lucy were old enough to drive and so I hit the front seats and took us down some scary sand tracks. It was a bit like mountain biking, but with the added responsibility of everyone's lives and $60 bonds! We got to a beautiful lake called Lake Mackenzie, superb. Well! I'm at Koala Resorts in Hervey bay and it's something out of Hidee hi (or however it was spelt!) and not updated since the 80's either! The microwave doesn't work, nor does the toaster, and they only have hobs, no oven, and u can't drink ur own alcohol on site as they are a liscenced premesis, and the 3 Swedish people in my room are the loudest and most inconsiderate people I've so far met as I had to tell them to shut up twice last night at 2am! Well I'm on the sunshine coast now having sped up past the place nicknamed Brisvegas (Brisbane) and the rest of the gold coast which is basically like the Spanish Costas so didn't miss much there! Noosa is really nice, more high class holiday makers here and I've done some more surfing after getting the bug for it back in Byron Bay. I have been standing pretty well and look forward to some Newquay action in the summer! I should win an award today for muppetry! Having maticulously planned my time to a T yesterday I discovered that I was meant to give 7 days notice for my Fraser Island trip, which I wanted to start on Wednesday! Rubbish! So now I'm going to have to take a leisurely trip up the coast, then turn into a manic 6 day stint when I hit the 4x4 and sailing trip before recovering for a day before my diving course! Well! I'm safely in Sydney now at the YHA which is really nice and has a great shower. The flight was pretty painless except the guy next to me had a BO issue going on... oh well! Nothing too eventful from that! Sydney is... wet, busy, and has some nice sites, most of which I have covered today! The botanical gardens, bridge, opera house, harbour. If the weather was hot and sunny I'd probably consider staying longer but seen as it's not I've brought my bus journey forwards 24hrs and am going upto Byron Bay tomorrow evening on the overnight bus!
