places I've seen, visited, vacationed, and worked.

I'm 21 and I have huge ambitious dreams of where I want to be in 5 years.
Unfortunately it’s hard to complete college payments and courses and finals while also working to pay for plane tickets and "trying to see the world" at the same time.
Luckily I have possibly the most wicked parent in the world and they support me in my travels.
I'm in an Environmental Science Degree program in my home town (Calgary, Alberta, Canada), and it’s great because it’s really practically to my travels, not to be a preacher of the environment, or a COMPLETE tree hugger... but having a knowledge of aquatic ecosystems, and then going diving on a reef, or knowing about terrestrial ecology and going to the rain forest. (heck, even microbiology and cleaning my room some days) just makes it so much more fascinating. Same thing as taking an introductory Geology class (…borrring!!!), and then going hiking in the mountains, the most boring subjects, like tectonic plates and erosion become so much more fascinating.
I guess what I'm saying is, I love being a student, and I love traveling...
that’s why we’re all here right?
Best Wishes
- Kelsey

I know this doesn't really count as a full on travel trip... But you know what? I think it had all the components of a big trip to some far off land... Travel, Adventure, Navigation difficulties, New sights sounds and locations... So I think it counts! My (Canadian) Thanksgiving weekend to Sylvan Lake The Drive North After a grueling week of school and work, my boyfriend and I decided to take a small road trip up to Edmonton followed by a short visit to his cabin in Sylvan Lake, Alberta (its about half way between Calgary and Edmonton, and about a [View Full Entry]

Hey Guys, This trip happened over 3 years ago, but it was such a turning point in my life, I had to share it with everyone. (That… and I wanted to get another post up!) I walked off the plane in San Jose, and the first thing that I noticed was the incredible humidity, it was like I had just walked into a room where someone had taken a hot shower. My skin felt sticky and damp, and would remain like that for the next 7 weeks. I was met by some of the other volunteers and we took a cab [View Full Entry]

So, there is this company out there called Global Vision International (GVI) and they help inexperienced travelers, like myself, to set up some pretty wicked trips, from volunteering with children, to marine conservation, to just flat out adventure, they basically have everything you want, wherever you want to go. So I, straight out of high school I went on a 5 week Rain forest conservation trip through GVI to Costa Rica, It was Amazing. I met so many amazing people, and it changed my life... it defiantly got me stuck with the Travel Bug, I've been h [View Full Entry]
