Europe » France November 9th 2015

Geo: 48.8566, 2.35097It's an early start for an 8am breakfast buffet which exceeded most buffets. We are all here. Josh, Chloe, Jordan, Barny ( the young ones) plus Rob, Jo, Chris and yours truly ( the sensible mature ones) what we share in common is some slight hangovers and laughter.Breakfast done its time to hit the mean streets of gay Paris and take in the sights of this wonderful cultural metropolis (yes I like it now)Our first stop is Notre Dame then onwards. Time is short but there's the louvre, champs élysées, a climb up the arc de triumph which exhausts both Jo and I but well worth the views on this glorious sunny day of 18c. Next is the Eiffel Tower which we'd planned to have lunch but for some unknown reason was closed or ... read more

Geo: 48.8566, 2.35097We arrive safely in Paris around 9am in the rain and await our baggage to arrive after an amazing flight on Sri Lankan airlines. Food, service and general friendliness of the crew was exceptional. We next catch the train into Chatelle so that we can get a cab to our hotel. Wouldn't you just know it, all the up escalators are not working so Chris and I have to lug the big heavy case up numerous flights of stairs to the point of exhaustion.Hot, sweaty and generally knackered we check in to the Novotel Bercy. Katherine comes to visit us at the hotel but unfortunately lost her passport and will have to join us later at some point for lunch. Kath, Chris and I have a couple of drinks and then go out for lunch ... read more

Geo: 6.92747, 79.8484Just arrived in Adelaide (oops Colombo Sri Lanka) same odd 2.5 hour time difference. It's wet and hot but the flight and the crew were amazing. Definitely an up an coming big player in the international market. The cabin manager gave me a cognac after dinner which was lovely but wanted to ply me with me. No way, I needed water and sleep to adjust ongoing time changes. No photos to really show as its dark, wet and humid. Couple of hours and it will be time to put on our woollies when we land in horrible Paris. Pic from lounge.... read more

Geo: -34.6118, -58.4173Ok so here were are now with a wait of 7 hours before our flight back to Santiago unless we can get an earlier one which is unlikely.yesterday was interesting outside the hotel when suddenly road rage was all the go. A rather annoyed taxi driver spat at another guy and pulled out a metal pipe from his cab. The other guy shouting back drew what appeared to be a hand gun. Lots more shouting from other irate drivers and it suddenly all stopped and they both drove off.Speaking of drivers here, the road markings and those things we call indicators are completely obsolete. The roads are a free for all. Glad we are not driving, I think I'd even pull over and just cry. This guy is outside our hotel every morning with his ... read more

Geo: -34.6118, -58.4173Well it's our second last full day here in BA and so it's another long walk to see one of the worlds largest book shops in the southern hemisphere and yes it's in an old theatre. It is just beautiful even if Spanish is not your native language. From her we head to the cemetery of many rich and famous people including that of Evita. To be honest we found it quite macabre and some of the more run down mausoleums you can actually peer in and see the decaying coffins. Thankfully not the bodies. There is something amazing going on here this evening as the sky is just full of thousands if not millions of butterflies as we walk around the city in search of dinner.Have met some really great locals today who really don't ... read more

South America » Argentina March 14th 2015

Geo: -34.6118, -58.4173Not a lot to say on this one. Both of us are so full of cold that we slept 16 hours. We managed to drag our sorry arses to breakfast and then again out for a walk in the late afternoon but not much else. Tomorrow we plan to take in the gallery of modern art and venture into San Boca which we've been told can be dodgy day or night... read more
