Swiss Cake Rolls and Karma... Michael, only you and Ade could find a magic class in another country. What an exciting day this must have been!! I cant wait to see the footage. I think it is great that you sponsered a child too!!! That rocks!!! When I was in 5th grade we adopted a school girl from India and all we had to do was send in 30.00 a month and it would send her to school. We organized a big fundraiser and sold Entimans (sp?) coffee cake outside of the Placitas Mini-Mart. We raised like 200.00 and I was supposed to send it in. I "forgot" to send in the money and bought swiss cake rolls at the snack bar at school everyday for a month instead. I think my Karma clock is still kicking me in the ass for that one. I''ll live vicariously through your donation now....haha....Love you both!!!!!
Keep Emailing Mike and Adrianne so happy you are having a great time. Mike I am printing everything and sending it to Zaydie and he is really enjoying your emails. At age 83 he is following closely. Everyday when we talk he says did you hear from them. So keep emailing as you know your Auntie and Grandfather are nervous wrecks not to say your mom isn't either. We can't wait to hear about the next adventure not to say can't wait until you come home either!!!! Miss you Love, Aunt Ina
Incredible What an amazing trip you guys are having. What a fantastic thing to do, a magic school and your donation! Famous magicians huh? I had no idea but would definitely like a demonstration some time. I am glad to hear you are touching base with people who live there. There are wonderful people every where. Somehow though when you connect with locals it changes the trip from being a tourist on the outside to something much more touching, a memory you'll always keep. Hope your health stays great! Take care of each other. Much love, Mom

Blogaholic! You guys are a blogging MACHINE! nice work. so cool to read the details of your adventure. The traveling has a familar ring to it...but INDIA is so obviously, thru your words, a vastly different and rich place. Amazing to see all the places you go and the experiences you find. Pure jealousy from over here! The travel bug is already itching in me again...or maybe I just need to shower. I'll keep you posted. Traveling together is an amazing opportunity and I am so excited for you two to be further exploring the planet and yourselves...hmmm i think that came out wrong. oh well. it's early and i haven't had any chai--how is YOUR chai???!!! yummy!!! continued safe travels!!!!! peace! xoxo p.s. michael, your magic continues to inspire me--such a cool passion and look how it connects you all over the world. SCREW math, I think you have the right idea. : )
RESPONSE FOR ANUP agonda beach huts
hey there anup! yes, i believe if you call ahead, you can get space for new years. this place is a little off the beaten path, much nicer than the colva/benalum beach and calangute/baga. they offer something different than what we were looking for. the place is called dersy... their huts were rs 150 when we were there, but i imagine more over the busier part of the season. they also had rooms above the restaurant which was just across the small road. the number is (i don't know where you are calling from) is: 0832/264.7503 the first part is the "area code" and the second part the local number. so if you are in india outside of goa, dial the whole thing. if you are in goa, dial only the last 7 numbers. if you are out of the country, dial your code for calling india and then the whole number (i think... you should check). i have to say, this place was DIVINE. i absolutely loved it. everynight on the beach, the electricity went out. this only made the place more charming... have a great time... let us know if you have any other questions. we're heading north for new years... manali... by dharmsala.
anup here again!
do you think we can get accomadation durin new years ?? about 6 of us! is it safe ? does the place where you stay have a phone number???
hey plannin to agonda hi, bumped into ur article through google. actually planning on a ne year trip to somehere nice, so narrwed it down to here. so howz the accomadation here? do they have enough beach shacks? where did you'll stay? is it on the beach? we planning to spend the new year's eve on the beach. is it possible?
spinning the tale You guys write a wonderful journal. I look forward to every installment. Mike, loved the picture of Addy's profile set against the sunset at the beach. Frankly I love all the pictures. They give us a great sense of being there with you. Most of all I love hearing that you two are. not only safe but having a wonderful adventure. Like everyone else, I wish I was there with you guys, but I'm just as glad that we are not. This is a great time in your life to savour as a couple. Believe me a couple sharing great adventures and places make for vastly better memories. Take care of my heart Addy. Love to you both.
don't worry, be happy ade- when we were in india, someone actually stole money out of luggage in our hotel room that wasn't locked up. it was't "much" to us, but it translated into a lot of money for the thief. the friend whose money it was decided that whoever took it clearly needed it more than she did and that was that. so, that being said, certainly you have reason to suspect that someone might steal something of yours (you look rock star rich to most folks) but is there anything so valuable that the world would halt if it was stolen? are your shoes irreplaceable? sure it would be a pain, but that is part of the adventure! (and then you'd have an excuse to do some shoe shopping!) so breathe and have a hell of a good time. you and michael might never make it back to india.
i can't wait to hear about dinner with the travel agent. if he is hindu and offers, have him take you to a ganesha temple before you get on the train so lord ganesha can help you with your travels.
love you both so much, wish i was there with you!!!!! looking forward to the next installment of your adventures--my folks are also reading the blog, my dad says when he gets rich he'll publish your stuff in his literary travel magazine!
Oh I miss you guys, but the funny thing to me is envisioning you in the middle of no where on a computer and uploading photos as well. I didn't think you would have that kind of access but I love it. I mean are there internet cafes beach or hut side? crazy. Every day I say to Merced... "merced, did you get an email notification? where are they? what are they doing" and then I get home late from well, drinking and here you guys are!!!!! xoxoxoxo
Nice work Ade, you are amazing!! My mom sent me the link to this blog. It's awesome to follow you guys and try to live vicariously through you a bit. Love you! Ann
Pit of Death! Ade and Dorf!!!!! Looks like you 2 are having an awesome experience! Love the MotoMadness shot, they try to do something like that here during Spring Break, except dollars instead of rubies and the structure is way safer I'm sure. Dorf you are missed always and Ade it has been nice to be introduced to you through the various adventures you 2 have had! We have to meet in person some day!! Thanks to both of you I can drift away for some time everyday by following in your footsteps on here......Best wishes!
Message for "Donald Trump" Mike - Life is good huh! So happy you and Ade are enjoying. As I sit at my desk and work my you know what off here in the 20 degree weather in Pa I am living vicariously through your emails. You mom said, "Don't bring home any cows or orphans." So happy you are having a great time!!! What is the Condo fee on that hut I might have to change my retirement to India.
Love, Aunt I
you two rock! hi lovelies,
i am soooooo excited for you and this trip! oddly enough, i'm writing two papers on AIDS in India (5.6 million folks infected there..hurumph) at this very moment (literally, in my jammies, coffee in hand) and relating it to my experience working with HIV-infected people when i was there two years ago. reading your comments while writing these papers is bringing it all back. the entire sensory overload. whew!
good for you for going and thank you for sharing your brilliant travelogues with the rest of us. i can't wait to "follow" you on the rest of your adventure.
love you both,
td
ps. turns out the "mutant down under" book is a sham. she lied about the veracity of her experiences. good book nonetheless tho. made up or not, it's a great story...
