from One traveller to another Hi Barb, sounds like you have had a great trip. I am only just beginning mine - this is step 2, a long way to go yet! I am enjoying this time away and am not homesick at all - just going with the flow
Big Adventure Hi Christine
Have only been able to access your blog since we returned home. Fascinatinating trip, great photos. We have been in Outback Australia for 5 weeks and internet cover is very patchy and slow!! Stood on edge of Lake Eyre with water and birds! You will probably be home by the you read this. Safe travelling
Barb
Nothing changes sounds just like this trip, I can see you both in Freud's house, in fact thought about you when I was there! Same thing for me, summer time, shut down, but lots of music in the centre and now of course tooooooooooooooooo many tourists!
lifted his leg Hello Christine,
Hail to good old England.
My mother's dog, when my parents went on a hiking tour to Stonehenge, lifted his leg against an important stone, my mother said, and pissed on it. That was the only comment she made about Stonehenge.
Nice photos, keep em coming. Keep writing, for it brings me back to my childhood in England. Are you going to one of the Ashes test matches? Love from Jill
The Ringstrasse Hi Christine!
Yes, we've been to Vienna too. We went for an enormous psychiatry convention - imagine all those psychiatrists together in the one glass-ceilinged convention centre eying one another and obviously thinking, 'Why is he/she here?'
We stayed at a grand hotel with a drive-in-out in front of it. We did many trips including to Freud's house. I bet it hasn't changed since we've been there. Main memory is the pen for signing the guest book being chained to the old-fashioned desk so no honest psych could pinch it. In fact I think that everything movable was chained down.
When we were there it was the middle of summer and heaps of shops had closed for the summer hols and therefore the cobbled streets were noticeably empty of people. Had a lovely German dinner of Spitz and
speck downstairs in a huge dim restaurant where you had to go down five steps to get in. Actually we had vienna schnitzel. Afternoon tea earlier at a typical Viennese cake shop looking as though it had stepped out of a Disney movie set, and we went to the museum of modern art too. Very exhausting, very foot-sore-causing.
Keep on writing, love Jill, and stay well. Don't get swine flu, bird flu or holiday bellie.
Thank you for the memories Hi Christine,
Great to hear about your visit to Bath. Paula and I did a 4 day tour of 'The Cotswalds' and it is so good to see your photos.
Cheers,
Maureen
Memories of Vienna Dear Christine.
Great to hear from you. So pleased you are taking advantage of the music scene in Vienna - it brings back many memories for me - also Schonbrunn Palace.
Stay safe,
Cheers
Maureen
Interesting Dear Christine,
So pleased you have included me in your travels. Your 'techno' ability is - to me - staggering!!! If you have the time, please further me more of the same.
Take care,
Maureen
Karlsruhe Hallo Christine,
Karlsruhe is about 28km southsoutheast of Landau, my hometown. I felt very close to you. Thans for the contiuing travelreports,
love Barbara
extremely engrossing Hi Christine,
Love reading your travelblog! You write distinctly which makes me feel I'm THERE! Actually was thinking that I'd be exhausted merely walking through places, never mind learning all stuff relating to them (and remembering it when coming to write it down).
Want more. Keep going. Love from Jillxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
