My time here is really winding down now. I only have today and tomorrow at Los Patojos, and on monday morning, blanca and I will both go to the airport at 6 am and by midnight I will be back in boston. I still don't even know who is picking me up on monday or where I'm going when I get home. I wish I could stay here just a little longer, though it would be very strange without blanca. So I am now half way through my third week, time is going by so fast. I love my kids so much. The other day I told cindy that I was telling my best friend about her and she just gave me the biggest smile and started giving me hugs and kisses and was so happy that I tell people about her. Okay, so I´m not really in el salvador anymore, but I was this morning, and I was tired of putting the exact same location every time. So I think all of my frusterations from last week are gone. I still get really overwhelmed sometimes, but I was typing up my proposal and I realized that I already have achieved a lot of the goals I came with- I just still have a lot left to do. So week two has begun and it´s proving to be a bit harder than the last. I for some crazy reason thought that I should do a different volunteer project in the morning in addition to los patojos. Yesterday and today I worked at casa jackson 8-12, a clinic for malnourished children. I was for whatever reason interested in seeing a more medical setting, but I hated it, so I won´t be going back anymore. Things here are crazy. I never know what to write in here because there´s so much to say, but never the time to say it. This week I planned on just getting a feel for the program and helping out wherever, but then I mentioned weaving to a couple of girls and they wanted to start right away. I FINALLY GOT INTO MY OWN BLOG. I just sat here for probably about 10 minutes trying to copy and paste an at sign... I am in joco now, using blanca´s laptop. It´s a spanish computer and it´s very confusing. Blanca, brooke and I just got back from our weekend travel. We went first to panachjel, and then we decided to go to san marcos for the night, one of the more ¨hippie´´ villages on lake atitlan. Hello! I am here! I have only a few minutes to write in this, I am meeting up with two of the other volunteers in five minutes to go to lake atitlan for the weekend. We are also going to a some small villages and possibly the biggest market in central america? Things here are great so far. Los patojos is amazing. I guess it is more of a safe haven for kids than anything else and a lot of their parents send them there so they won't get into drugs and whatnot as it is a big problem here in [View Full Entry]
