Blog on!
Dear Allie, Thanks so much for doing this blog. Nana and I are just loving it! All the pictures are amazing, and the narration is delightful. Nana is especially grateful to see what everyone is doing. We think you and your mom are glamorous and we can't wait to hear about tomorrow's race. We really appreciate your including us in all the doings. John looks uber handsome in his red blazer and the picture of John and his rowing-mate is fun. We are having so much fun with this!

Rowing, fashion...and naked men
Loved the hats! The purple one is very "Queen Mother". Oh yeah...and the Pimms man looks like he lost his britches. Speaking of fashion - John is very fashionable in his Henley attire. Between the rowing, the fashion, the wooden boats and the dapper men you guys have a lot of people watching to do. Have you had any 'bangers and mash' yet? Drink a Guinness for me! Thanks for the great pics...Barbara York

Hatters or ????
These hats do not express anything about you let alone the inner you. Back to Starbucks to think about this a bit more.

It's a Punt
For all of you boat geeks out there, theboat in the first boat picture, the one with the guy standing pushing it along with a pole, is called a punt.

St. Jame's Park
St. Jame's Park near Buckingham Palace is a beautiful walk. Maggie recently ate at a neat Belgian restaurant named "Belgo's." Covent Gardens is very fun. Theater in London is transforming. Since you are staying with a native, she can probably give way better tips. Maggie just suggested a climb to the top of St. Paul's. She did that on her trip this past fall. She went with her Classics friends to study Hadrian's Wall in the north of England. (Hadrian's Wall is too far out of the way--maybe save that for another time.)

Re: Grave Matters
So Virginia Wolfe's ashes were scattered, thus, no grave. William Blake is buried at Westminster Abbey. Hopkins is in Dublin. Kipling is also in Westminster Abbey and Dahl is buried in the Saint Peter and Saint Paul Churchyard in Buckingham... don't know if we'll make it but that looks like a good one. Thanks for all the other great suggestions Aunt Bridget! Tell Maggie she'll be expected to carve a Moby Dick watermelon at Thanksgiving.

Grave Matters
How about William Blake? Gerard Manley Hopkins? Virginia Wolfe? Rudyard Kipling? Roald Dahl? I am very fond of the Victoria and Albert Museum because it is not so crowded as some of the others and the collection is impressive. Tea at the Dorchester Hotel is fun. Skip the changing of the guard!!!

The Look of Love is in Yall's Eyes
Hey, Dusty must be inspiring all of you because we see that radiant look in your eyes. Thanks for all the great pictures and for sharing the fun with those of us who are left behind in Midland, Texas. The Henley experience looks pretty dreamy. I read about some of the fun games on the link Jen sent. Trying to fill in the missing six hours was hilarious. I need help with that even when I am NOT drinking. Maggie had an exciting morning. She covered a cooking class for the Midland Reporter Telegram. She now knows how to make cheesy jalapeno bites and can make a watermelon look like Moby Dick. To her amazement she nodded off during the class and when she woke she thought to herself that she hopes she never ends up actually enrolled in something like that. My day was much more exciting. I did my usual communion prayer service at the nursing home and one of the residents tipped me TWO DOLLARS. Can you believe that? Maggie says I should have told the woman that I was not into that whole indulgences thing, but I am seriously considering putting a tip jar on the altar. Mother is feeling fine and even came with me to the nursing home. She wants to split the TWO DOLLARS. I have to think about that. Congratulations John on your success!! We prayed for you at the nursing home this morning, so you might want to send me money, too. We are excited about your new shield and can't imagine all the fun you are going to have with that at the next Renaissance Fair. We loved all the pictures and are hoping to see some pictures of Allie in the next batch. I am willing to pay for this request.
