Decided mid morning to visit the seaside villages of 'Chinque Terre'. Caught a train to Empoli (50 mins), only to find that the connecting train to La Spetzia Centrale was cancelled (had to wait for another hour for the next train). Caught the next available train to Sarzana (1.5 hrs), then a train to La Spetzia (10 mins) and then another to Riomaggiore (10 mins). With only limited time, we were only able to walk from Riomaggiore to Manarola (20 mins) then on to Corniglia (40 mins). Chinque Terre is a very beautiful seaside township with stunning coastal views, clear blue, turquoise waters and colorful villas. Left Chinque Terre (6.50pm) thinking we had ample time to return to Poggibonsi but our train at Pisa Centrale was delayed which affected subsequent connections. Arrived at Empoli (9.30pm) only
