What a meaningful and wonderful trip
Darling Megan: I found your account very moving and cannot wait to hear a fuller account in person. I believe that my friend Manoj comes from Rajasthan so I am sure that you will have a lot to talk to him about and I know that he will be very interested to hear of your experiences. Enjoy your Mumbai trip and give my very warmest wishes to my dear friend.

Thank you grandpa, and yes I would love to talk more in detail. That's great to know that Manoj is from Rajasthan, since I have been there twice this trip! I am beyond excited to board my plane to Bombay tomorrow morning- your gift is wrapped and in tow :)

We were delighted to get another blog and especially to see the lovely picture of you in an old house. Your descriptions of the town and the food were very enticing. I hope you bring home recipies so that we can have a real taste of you experiences. We have a new artisan Indian restaurant across the road so that could inquire where they shop so I am sure we will be able to find the ingredients for you concoctions. (Roll on Thanksgiving!) We have been very busy recently, nothing new however. We went to a very good show last night. It was free as friends had spare tickets for the preview of a story about some of Beethoven\'s music. G\'pa went to Oljato for two days to try and get it up to par again. They met a new Director from Sacramento who Richard knows so things are looking up after chronic to acute conditions. It is such a shame to let such beautiful area go to rot. We were more than envious when we saw the picture of you in the ocean. We love, love warm sea water We are off to RC again this afternoon and teaching a class tonight for 3 hours I taught the prerequisit class last Saturday, all day, 9 to 5. I hope you classes are going well and that your grades are to your satisfaction - I know you aim high. Must get on with some chores. Hope you continue to \"have a ball\". Much love, Grandma.

To Grandma
Thanks for the update! I love hearing about what you are all doing as sometimes I can feel so far away (well, I guess I am). I am jealous Grandpa was able to see Oljato, even if it is not in its best conditions. I would love to be up in the Sierras. Yes, the warm water was incredible! The waves were also much calmer than in Santa Cruz so I was able to get in some more swimming than usual when I go to the beach at home. Sounds like you guys are working very hard at RC, as per usual. Are you still enjoying it? Classes are going well- I have had a busy traveling schedule so to be honest they have not been on the forefront of my mind. After this next weekend though, I will really start finishing off my work and working hard for the end of the semester work. I am doing well though- just received a 100% on my Hindi quiz! Love you!

Your new love
Elephants: who would have thought it! I would love to go to India but Grandpa thinks it is too much of a trip. So, we will be all the more intested in reading your blogs to make up for not being able to visit ourselves. Your descriptions are wonderful and very expressive. The photos are happiness personified and you look so smart. What color is the sari? Looking forward to more writings but understand that school work comes first and I hope it is going well. Much love, Grandma.

Hello Megan:
Thank you for send me birthday wishes. I wonder if you have power again. What a pity if you had to miss school. You will all have to work extra hard to catch up. How are things going? Power can turn the world upside down in no uncertain terms! We hope to hear from you again soon. Just a hurried line is fine - we understand. Love G'ma.

yeah we have had power! Even when it went out, where I was (at school and home) have backup generators, so I was never really stuck. All is well! I just got back from Jaipur, will be writing about that soon. I have a bunch of schoolwork starting!

TAJ
So pleased to be blogged by you again. I almost felt like jumping on a plane and coming to see for myself. Then I realized that I have a birthday tomorrow and that I will be too old for such an adventure. This makes me even more anxious to see you in November and hear all about your explorations in the flesh. In the meantime please keep us up to date with your varied exploits. When you start class you may have less time but just a short note will do fine. Love, Grandma.

Recovered
Very glad to hear from you again. We were so sorry to hear of you disposition after only just a few days away. It all sounds most uncomfortable and depressing. From your news today it looks like you are learning like a sponge, scooping up lots of knowledge. The museum pictures look fascinating and from the subjects you portrayed I guess they worship idols. The friends in the photos look as happy as you are. What fun to be with excited, positive people. Love, Grandma.

Humayun's tomb
It's Humayun's tomb:) Even though I'm a Delhiite but I have never been there. and these shiva worshipers carrying parades are 'kanwarias'....they go to places like haridwar and varanasi and carry the ganges water to their hometowns during this month....but its all song, dance and noise....there is hardly anything spiritual about it.... hope u have a good time.

Yes- thanks for filling in my missing info! They told us all about those things, but because I'm constantly flooded with stimulus in Delhi, by the time I sit to write about my experiences it is hard to remember everything!

Hi, Megi: I am so enjoying you blogs and delighted that you are having such a good time. I went to Stanford for a research program in psychology and was interviewed by an Indian student. She told me the temp is around 90 F and very humid. I told her I had learned so much from you about India in 3 blogs . . . amazing !!! Keep us updated as long as you have time and give my best to your 4-month-mother. Love, G\'ma.

What you ate
Who would have thought that what you eat for lunch could be the highlight of my day?! How do you say in Hindi, "I want more of that". I love reading your blog. Love, Dad

From Blog: Day #3 beginning to learn Hindi!

oh ya and...
to your question about how to say 'i want more of that' in delhi- there is probably no such thing! they continue to pile more and more and more food on your plate! if you say no, they ask 3 times, and sometimes you just have to cover your plate with your hands so they stop! if you had to ask, i bet they would feel bad about not doing their job well

aw that's nice, thanks dad! and you too mom! I'll keep posting then. speaking of food, for dinner we went to a really fancy restaurant actually! it's kind of a whole story in itself to describe what it's like, probably better over Skype or in person. had my first experience with a child touching me to give him money in downtown delhi at night...
