My wife, myself and my daughters are very interested to meet some of their half-sisters. So I am looking for a safe place in Haiti. 1. Question: Is it safe at the moment in Haiti? 2. I intend to stay in Haiti in March/Apri 2011? Is this agood time? 4. Is it a possibilty to rent a boat with captain/small crew etc to make a trip? 5. If you have good ideas to help me in planing or Knowing a good and safe!!! place to stay I would be very pleased for an answer Thanks for answering the questions! Steffen Germany |
| 17th December 2009 René Pierre-Luckner | Mi ciudad natal - From: Jérémie, Haiti. |

| 19th November 2009 ROSELYN JONES | ISLAND OF GONAVE - From: As the sun sets in Haiti HI ANNIE AND ERIC, GREAT TO READ YOUR BLOG. AND HEAR SOME POSITIVE FEED BACK ABOUT HAITI I HAVE A SPONSORED CHILD ON THE ISLAND, AND AM OFF TO VISIT HER IN APRIL 2010 I HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTING TO LEARN ALL I CAN ABOUT THE ISLAND BEFORE I GO, BUT AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, THERE IS NOT A LOT OF INFORMATION TO BE HAD. FLOATING ON THE WATER IS NOT MY FAVORITE THING TO DO, SO IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE HOW MY STOMACH HANDLES THE TRIP OVER FROM THE MAIN LAND!!!!! IF YOU EVER DECIDE TO SAIL DOWN UNDER, YOU CAN ANCHOR OFF MY FRONT YARD. SAFE TRAVEL ROS |
| 14th November 2009 Mathieu Louis | LaGonave - From: Ile de la Gonave, Haiti Boy, Boy, Boy! Don't get me started. This is one of the most beautiful islands on earth. Some of you may want to question it but imagine this island being taken care of. I am talking about having all of the means of a normal life. I mean the basics. It needs so much attention. I strongly believe that one day it will be on the "must see islands list" in the world. What i am trying to say is that: I love LaGonave. Needless to say that I am from there. I wouldnt trade it for the world, of course. If you want to free yourself from all of this stress, have a peace of mind; this is the place to go. LaGonave, here I come. Map vi-n sou ou.... Love you! P.S Together we can accomplish a lot. |

| 16th October 2009 Merrill | Wish I was heading south again! - From: New England coast, USA It is so great to hear from you guys now that you are back underway. As we tied Ambition to the dock at Gosselin last weekend, I could not help thinking how much better it was this time last year as we dodged around crab pots and fishing nets in the Chesapeake freezing our butts off. Frozen decks all the way to Charleston SC but just the thought of warmer blue water was inspiring! Love the blog and pics … have a great ride south … wish we were with you! |

| 4th November 2008 Payday Loan Advocate | Americans health - From: Kidney Stone In Haiti!! I hope that you’re feeling well now. Kidney stone is one of the usual diseases in America. It seems like everywhere you turn, there’s a story about how unhealthy Americans have become. Obesity and diabetes are also on the rise among adults and children alike. A recent story in the New York Times reported that kidney stones are becoming more and more common in children as young as 5 or 6. A child with kidney stones used to be a rare occurrence, but now, some hospitals have opened pediatric kidney stone clinics in order to accommodate all of the kids that come in with kidney stones. The main preventative measure parents can take to help their children avoid developing a kidney stone is to encourage them to stay hydrated and discourage the over consumption of salt. However, it’s hard for parents to be with their kids all the time to ensure they’re putting the right things in their bodies—like at school—and sometimes kids just don’t listen. Not only is a kidney stone harmful to your kid, it can be a major blow to your budget. If your child develops a kidney stone, or is hit with some other health issue, you can always get payday installment loans to help cover the medical costs until you get paid next. | 30th October 2008 Madam John | not submarine - From: Jérémie, Haiti. I think when I lived in Jeremie the sunken boat was explained this way. During a coup the lights of the harbor were switched to the other area to prevent destruction of the real harbor. The one ship went aground and was left for the enjoyment of many swimmers for years to come. I don't know who the ship belonged to. Question is Projet Gebeau still active? Thanks |

| 18th June 2007 Merrill | - From: As the sun sets in Haiti Eric and Annie, Your blog is again living proof that the world is a very different place than CNN and the evening news present to us. Travel and experiencing what people really are all about widens our personal wealth. Your blog has described, with such colour the lives of people who are just trying to make their own little corner of the world a better place and often it takes so little to fan the flames for them. Your kindness and generosity to the Haitians will no doubt be long remembered. Looking forward to your return to fresh water ... have a safe trip home. Merrill s/v Ambition |

| 17th June 2007 Paul | Sunday afternoon reflection - From: As the sun sets in Haiti Reading you adventure here at Valcourt is a treat. Thank for giving us an extroadinary look at this part of the world. Yes it is very poor but there is a positive human side that the media dont give us and you have brought it to us in such a wonderfull way. We , here at the lake, are looking forward for you to shear you hare your experience. This would most definatly be a winner for a conference at la Conam next fall !!!!!!! It is interesting how life brought you there, and you thought you would be cruising the Carabeen going from port to port and instead you where sort of grounded in Haiti living an unforgettable human experience, It is said that nothing happens without a reason, On thought that I share with people on a daily basis: IF YOU WANT TO MAKE GOD LAUGH, TELL HIM ABOUT YOUR PLANS FOR THE FUTURE !!!!!!! Have a safe trip back Paul, s/v Eliosso |

| 22nd February 2007 Bill | Lifesaver - From: Grande Goave, Haiti While on a short-term mission trip in Grande Goave I reluctantly agreed to be rowed over to a small island, just off the coast, by a young, inexperienced Haitian boy. Enroute, I expessed my concern that the boat (a log carved out to resemble a boat) was taking on water and that it would be best to get back to shore. My ability to speak Creole is the same as my ability to swim.......non-existant! The boy said that there would be no problem, I think, and after just a few seconds the "boat" filled with water and there I was in deep, water, strong current and no lifejacket. Eric and Annie, in the area with their motorized raft, came over, pulled me from the water and got me safely to shore. Without their help I may have drowned. God is always with us, even though we sometimes don't take the time to "see" him or give him the thanks he deserves in so many things in our lives. God bless Eric and Annie.......and thankyou, again. |

I was down there January 17-19 at Port au Prince at the Montana Hotel. I do not know about outside Port-au Prince, however in the city I had mixed emotions by seeing all the poverty, with the only hope of having enough food for the day. People are friendly and straggling every day to survive. Thanks for sharing a brighter version of the situation. Continu to travel deeper in emotions & have fun !!!! |

| 12th January 2007 Robert@peacetoys.com | Smell the salt in the air - From: Ile de la Gonave, Haiti Hello from South Hero Vermont after reading this a funny thing came over me I remembered the times i was island hopping in that neck of the woods or Oceans and the smell of that southern ocean air came back. a testament to your great writing. It was what prompted this reply. so on the northern news the skiing up here is as bad as it can get. So you are not missing much in that regard. Not sure if this fits but Haiti like many places will prosper best through education- so I share this with you to share with others. MIT has made available for FREE all their courses online for download- this is over 1400 of them. also for those traveling that want to learn more- a great resource to boatschooling. see MIT http://ocw.mit.edu/index.html a free and open educational resource (OER) for educators, students, and self-learners around the world. |
