China!!
haha, was so funny reading your little part on the chinese woman. it really sums up china as a whole. i lived there for 5 months and that was the one thing i could not get used to. Men, women, young and old just spit everywhere!!

Apparently Syria is a real gem, or so a number of folks on TravelBlog have told me. Getting the visa is a real pain though. I will fly to Turkey and hope to get the visa at the Syrian border, because getting it from a consulate seems the more complicated way. I hear, you can get it at the border if you have an Irish passport. Otherwise, I will just stay in Turkey. Either way, I will get to see more of the world. Yeah, I have a fascination with the Middle East and North Africa too. They are very exotic, so more of a travel experience. I have that fascination for Asia too.

Syria
I'm afraid we only had 8 days in Jordan. As always I wish we had more. I have another trip in two months to either Turkey or Greece. Not sure. For some reason though, I now have a weird fascination of the Middle East & North Africa.

Rancho Grande
I stayed in that hostel when I was in El Chalten in 2010. As much as I had an OK stay there, the kitchen and dorms were something to be desired with a lack of cutlery and the dorms were never locked and didn't provide lockers!

I find your comments sad. You sound like the kind of traveler I came to dislike. Look at me, I eat chicken feet, I've got balls. If you saw the way it was served up and looked you would probably have turned it down too. It wasnt just the fact that it was chicken feet. Another point, I'm not American. I'm Irish. I'm sure some people have flown half way round the world and served pizza, only to turn their nose up at it and run for chicken feet to make them feel better. Thanks for reading the blog though. Pity your comments couldn't have been more constructive than insulting.

chicken
You should really learn to man up - I thought the same thing when I first saw chicken feet. But I actually have some testicles (so should you, figuratively speaking) and tried them. They are really nice. Flying half way across the planet to eat pizza is my definition of an American dumbass.

Thanks Mell. I can clearly remember doing that. It was at sun set on top of a sand dune in Rainbow Beach. I didnt have a care in the world then. :)

What a nice photo! It is currenly on the Front Page. Quite a few of your photos are now appearing on the Front Page, at the top right. Just letting you know, because you might not have noticed, because photos only stay on the Front Page for a few minutes at a time! Anyway, congratulations on having Front Page photos. :)

I'm so pleased yo loved it here, it is where I am from and I'm very proud of it, its yet to get the same volume of tourists as the South but perhaps that adds to the charm

When I described the scary past the level of torture was akin to what was used in Auschwitz and Cambodia. In fact it was just as bad. Maybe not on the same amount of people but my point was that each action was horrific.

good place for travel
That's an interesting city with ancient castles! But i don't see a mention of its history-"scary past"? & specialties, too. But anyway, pictures are very beautiful. Thanks your nice post.

The Highlands
The Highlands are always magical with blue skies and sunshine! I recently spent a day in The Highlands where it was grey and rainy but beautiful nevertheless. Love your blogs and happy travels, Dawn
