Interesting blog... Great writing and information, Shane. You got some fantastic photos as well. We have always felt it's important to honour the soldiers who were so brave and sacrificed so much for our freedom, so we hope to visit Kanchanaburi this year to see Hellfire Pass and the surrounding area.

I see what you mean Hi Shane, I see what you mean about having a travel blog! My elderly lady Mac is being difficult and I'm having trouble reading about all your travels, so it may be a serial for me, published bit by bit as she releases the next electronic bit. When you return from Africa (is it Africa next?) there will still be Antarctica waiting.
Wow Another blog of yours that leaves me speechless. Some people think they have experienced a place when they travel but you REALLY experience every place you visit.
Thank u Thank u Shane for sharing ur experience. It helps us here in our cushy lives in the West understand what Shiv goes thru to follow her conservation dream. I find her inspirational! I know I could not hack the hardships she faces on a daily basis. And ur respect and admiration for her work means a lot as I know u r so well travelled and will have seen so much on ur travels.
This stands out as a great tribute to your countrymen (and women) the things they are achieving to get Brisbane and other places into shape, of course you are proud to be Australian as we are proud to know you all. Fi always pops up when she is needed a little Angel. Lorraine Brendan and yourself look pretty clean after all that mud!! great photo's , keep smiling. Thanks Shane.
Clean up Progress Report Thanks for the comments and wishes everyone. Donna and Neil, the clean up in Brisbane is going very well, but some pockets are still impacted. The river transport system will be down for another month at least, and even then it will only partially operate. Southbank still hasn't fully recovered. Tonight I commenced moving my boxes back into my storage shed, exactly one month after the mad dash to remove them before the flood arrived. The next blog will deal with the aftermath.
Thanks for sharing, Shane. It's strange to think that you experienced something that I only watched on TV, a world away from you! I'm glad you're okay! Candee
Glad you managed to stay safe during the floods. It's hard to believe that an area the size of France and Germany was affected, it kind of boggles the brain as to how huge Australia is. Great pictures Shane, good job you moved your stuff upstairs. Hope the clean up is going ok and there won't be any more rain for you guys there in Australia!
Isolation and loss of power. That gives more time to blog! But seriously, that first photo reminded me of my old car that nearly drowned in the garage during Typhoon Ketsana (Ondoy here) that hit Manila. Good for you that you've moved all your stuff and stayed dry and safe. Thanks for sharing, Shane! As usual, you tell a good story.
Thanks for sharing I remember sitting on the riverboat on my way up to LonePine Sanc and the ferry captain was talking about the damage from the 'great flood' in Brisbane, and I was thinking, oh there is no way that would happen again.
All the countries you have visited this is one blog no one envisaged-- as usual you have captured everything and shown us how devastating it was---------Advance Australia Fair-------- thanks Shane.
hi Mr.Dallas I've just got time to visit your blog, it's fantastic i could say. btw I'm a qatar airways crew on Bkk flight last month. I will come to visit your blog again for sure. thank you to let me in.
