So here we are, stealing wifi from another closed visitors' center. It is now 10:00 PM and it looks like it's noon. We just ate at a place called Boston Pizza, that was delicious. Anyways, our waitress told us that the sun sets at about 11:30 PM and rises at 4:00 AM right now. She also said that during the summer solstice in June, when the sun sets it still looks like dawn and that it's just a light blue in the sky. It's really trippy and plays with your senses. We just pulled into a small little town to grab some dinner. We are actually using someones wireless router instead of our normal wifi... like I said its really hard to find it out here. So far all these horror stories of unpaved roads and no civilization for thousands of miles is bull. We havent had any road problems at all and no scares about running out of gas. All is going well. Finally!!! We made it to the Canadian border, and more importantly made it through the border. After 17 hours of driving straight I had to take a break, I didnt want to start hallucinating from lack of sleep. After 6 hours of sleep I feel very refreshed and ready to take on another 16 hours of mountain driving through Canada. Wifi hotspots are very few and far in between so we might not be able to post as much, but will try as much as possible. Im working on my third no doz now... things are going to be interesting for the next eight hours. The roads have been getting progressively worse the further north we get. Canada will be fun. We saw a shooting star after the sunset. By the way, the sun didnt set here until almost 9:30 which was kind of trippy. We plan on making it to the border by 7:00 tomorrow morning. We are now leaving for Alaska. We got Griffin his 70.00 health certificate this morning so we can legally cross the border when the time comes. The first 300 miles are done already! Seems like its going by pretty fast actually. Im currently on my second no doz caffeine pill and they are working like a charm. Griffin is being so good, havent heard a peep from him the entire trip. We are at a rest stop in Ceder Rapids Iowa and hes out playing in the grass and stretching. This is our first post documenting the road not travelled. We are currently sitting in a starbucks in Collinsville, Il running over last minute details of our trip. We are nervous, but very excited about this new chapter in our life. We have to go to the vet before we leave tomorrow, but will be on our way as soon as we can.
