Location: Kamala Beach, Phuket Island, Thailand Date Arrived: 11th December 2007 Date Left: 14th December 2007 Place(s) Stayed: Baan Natacha (1000 Baht per night, included breakfast) Location Rating (Out of 5): 3.5/5 Details: This place was immediately noticeably different to Karon Beach. It was not as large to start with and there was not as much choice in the shops and places to go exploring. The beach was slightly unclean. This is probably due to the large amount of long tail boats and a rather dirty river that runs into the sea at one end of the beach. However the beach [View Full Entry]

Thailand....the beginning

Location: Karon Beach, Phuket Island, Thailand Date Arrived: 7th December 2007 Date Left: 11th December 2007 Place(s) Stayed: Baan Suay (900 Baht per night) Location Rating (Out of 5): 4/5 Details: We arrived here after having a pretty lousy time in India and were instantly impressed with Karon. It had just the right amount of everything, from hotels to shops and restaurants to beaches. The town was clean and the folk were really laid back and genuinely friendly. Everyone smiles and acknowledges you and the only people that will pester you are those pesky suit shop owners! Trying to explain to [View Full Entry]

After complaining about Delhi and how much we wanted to get out of India, we went and booked a flight from Delhi to Bombay (Mumbai). Whilst we were at the internet cafe in our hostel, we met a guy called Jordan from Canada, and we agreed to meet up for dinner... so off we went at 7.30pm all three of us through the slightly less crowded Delhi Main Bazaar and headed into Gems. We were advised to go here as there would be lots of "foreigners"... us!! We looked at the menu, james and jordan had some baleers.. which they [View Full Entry]

Okay, so culture shock isnt the word, this place is so confusing and no one is really helpful at all. Yesterday was nearly a complete disaster, but then we found TGI Fridays and our tummys were happy... today however we decided to make the inevitable choice of leaving India early. We went through the painful process of trying to ring up STA travel, who were really helpful (London branch!!) who then told us we needed to head to the main place in Delhi so they could re-issue our tickets... we spoke to them on the phone several times and after [View Full Entry]

Delhi, the story so far.... Well, where to start?! We arrived at Delhi’s International airport at about 12:30 Delhi time, and were whisked away in a nice air-conditioned car. Here’s where it got interesting.... we discovered that although India does have tarmac roads with white lines marking the lanes, Indians however feel the need to make their own...a two lane dual carriage way becomes a 12 lane nightmare! It’s quite funny to see a rickshaw attempt to go the wrong way down a dual carriage! Anyway after seeing random cows and monkeys on the roadside we finally arrived at our hostel, [View Full Entry]

So much left to do! Okay, so were on our last course of Injections now, Rabies and Japanese B encephilitus. Eek! We have two more of each, and also Cholera and Meningitis ACWY or something like that! The only injection that has hurt so far was the Hep B, it had a slightly stinging sensation, and a rather sore incision by the travel clinic nurse! We have our backpacks, sleeping bags, and day packs but thats about it. We have been looking at headlamps and sandals! I really want to get a good pair of sandals that i can wear and [View Full Entry]
