Tackle not heavy duty enough!!! Sounds like Kenneth Williams would have been in his element there. Fannie this and Fannie that and you having too small tackle, let alone female jelly wrestling!!!!!. Enjoy, see you soon.
Thank You Good reading your first blog and will wait to hear of your adventures from the outback. Thank you for my birthday card - nice surprise. I've had a fabulous 5 days of celebrations, including visiting the Ginstitute in Portobello Road with Claire and Bombay Sapphire Distillery in Hampshire with David. Both surprises, so neither knew what the other one was doing. Quite a nice coincidence. I think it suggests that I like the odd G&T!!!! Happy travelling. Pat
Sobering up! Hi I'm pleased to hear that you had a good time on your birthday although you may not have remembered much of it by the sounds of it ! Steve
Hello again Hi, glad to hear that all is going well so far and hope that all will continue that way in Oz. Looking forward to reading all your adventures and seeing all the pictures.
Onwards Hi Dom. Thanks for your comment, I'm pleased to see you're following us! Now in Darwin and collect our off road camper van on Friday to go off the beaten track. Steve
Captain Slog Stardate July 19th It's a really wet Sunday morning here and we can't even walk the dog, so, in desperation, we turned to reading your blog. An interesting first report from our intrepid travellers. (intrepid - fearlessly facing up to danger or hardship - we looked it up) We were in a similar jungle a fortnight ago - oh no, that was the Houses of Parliament. You get tea there too. Expect your next report will be from a town like Alice, cuddling a reluctant koala. Open a tinny for us and keep up the intrepidity. D&Cx
Back in UK I am a little jealous of you being back in Vir Water, we miss our friends and village and park. Hope you settle in quickly. Glad the USA didn't do too bad in your travel critique, fun to hear a visitors point of view!
Culture differences Hi Pleased to hear from you. Having now visited the USA for 6 weeks I'm amazed at the differences to England ! You must notice a huge difference in culture/shops/roads now you're back home. I was staggered by the amount of traffic on the west coast. I thought the M25 was busy until I drove on the Freeways in LA !
Keep in touch. Steve
Welcome home Glad you enjoyed the trip and are still together! Are you back in your house now as next time we are in Virginia Water we will try and get to see you.
Where next?

Wot, no more blogs? We've got used to our weekly installment of The Archers Abroad. Perhaps you could do one from the tennis club, although as you've not played for a year you'll probably be rubbish! A tip for New York is that the best view of The Statue of Liberty comes from the Staten Island Ferry, which is the best free ride we've ever had - and long too! Grand Central Station is worth seeing, even if you're not a train freak. Also the Twin Towers Memorial is very moving. Enjoy your last week's hol and look back on the other 51. Safe journey home. David and Carol X
Loyal support Hi Thanks for keeping up with our travels. We have already booked tickets for the 9/11 memorial and intend to go on the Staten Island ferry ride. have just landed and been taken to our over night hotel in Queens. it's a frightening place ! We will be home on 12th and that's 51 weeks, so not quite a year. You have one more installment to look forward to. Steve
Plaque reading What a pleasure to see such innocence in you youngsters. Don't forget to take lots of pictures of the places Kilroy visited in New York. You'll see the labels 'Kilroy was here', so look out for them!!
A long trip So are you almost at the end? When are you home? Will miss the blogs over the last year and the grumpy comments :-). When is the next trip?
Home soon Hi we land on 12th. It's gone so fast I can't believe it. I only tell it as it is. No more long trips planned as Christine won't leave her 85 yo mum again and I'm not allowed out on my own ! Off to the Big Apple later today looking for the maggots !
Biggest tree in the world Knowing the Americans propensity to use the word 'world' when describing things in America (World Wrestling Federation for example) I am curious to know the authority that declared this the largest tree in the world. Did some work experience student working for the Guiness World Record mob spend his or her adult lifetime travelling the world measuring all the trees that were contenders or is it the usual American thing of declaring it the biggest in the world and then wait for someone to disprove it. Still a big bugger though, isn't it?
We are Steve & Chris. In 2013/2014 we travelled around the world and had a wonderful time. The nomadic existence suited us more than we could have imagined. So once back in the UK we soon got bored (well I did) and over the winter months planned another trip. Only 3 months this time to revisit Malaysia, the bits we missed last time and to explore the outback of Australia.
Only crocodiles, snakes and spiders to avoid !
