Language uhnh? It's all about the dumbing-down of education. So be careful Spot, you might get too educated and then be over-qualified for the job. And Diane...blame it on computers, i. e. spellcheck. Happy Trails, Spot. Your admirer, Lucinda
I, for one, am certainly jealous! Well Spot, it looks like you are having a grand time on your LOA. Wish we all could be enjoying them with you.
I have to admit, though, when I first came in the room a few weeks ago and saw you'd gone missing, I was just a tad concerned. But Diane said, "Not to worry, you were simply taking some time to broaden your horizons". Although I personally think that a fellow with your height would have a pretty broad horizon most of the time, anyways!
I can understand, though (although? . . . no I think it's 'though' in this case), how watching your humans come and go each morning, evening, and their noon feeding time would get a bit wearisome. So make the most of it.
You did mention Philadelphia. I would take the liberty now that you have your independence, and sign on for a trip to see it. I've heard that it really is all it's cracked up to be. And it would give you an excuse to visit the great state of Pennsylvania. Maybe you could swing back through the Amish country on your way home.
Oh, and a word about Melvin - The little fellow seemed a bit nervous at first, what with all that new responsibility and all, but I really think he's up to it. It'll be a real 'growth opportunity' for him and I firmly believe he'll measure up. Not to worry about losing your spot though. No one could do the job with quite the same aplomb you bring to it.
Anyways, your humans will soon be migrating to their autumn range, so things are getting exciting. And of course, Diane and the others have already started making plans for fun things to do once they get there. I'm told by reliable sources that Victoria and the others already have a position selected for you when they return on their winter migration.
Keep your chin up, Jim
A Literary Giraffe? I wonder if we've met mr. Spot. I too have frequented that exact spot.. perhaps with a mutual friend? Hmmm? Keep me abreast of your travels. Ha, I said "a breast"....
Although.... Spot,
I truly admire your dedication. And I stand corrected on the "though versus although"
debate. I must point out, in my defense, THOUGH, that way back in my day,
"though" was used in casual writing while "although" was considered to be
more formal/professional. And the journalism professors would dock you a full grade
if you used "though" in a story assignment, so that one was pound into my
head. Since you are clearly using the newer versions of style manuals, I can
only assume that this is more evidence of the gradual decline of the
English language. (Sigh.) But it's not your fault. I commend your efforts. Keep up your
studies, and keep in touch! Everyone in the office is following your travels
closely--and for some of us desk-bound types, vicariously!
Love and hugs,
Diane
Ball Park Since you're such a sports afficiando, oficinado, afosinado [fan) how about some tickets to the Ravens - You could smooch up to the players and since you're probably taller than some of them it would be easy for you - I think you should give Ray Lewis a BIG Smacko - He's my man!
Jealous I'm so jealous - All I get to do is look out my window and bark at passers by - I do a great job at it - but I wouldn't mind seeing a few hooters - Did you get a good look down at the hooters - You do tower over them you know ;)
Is there enough sand? Hi Spot! I just returned from my own adventure! There was sand everywhere, and I don't think we will ever get get it all out of the van! You would like the beach, but I don't know if you would have enjoyed the huge waves! I hope you are using your sunscreen when you go out in the sun, though. Sunburn and peeling skin is no fun!
How did you like the Australia exhibit? Spot, did you get a chance to check out the Australia exhibit at the aquarium? That's my favorite part!
PS-Now that I can spend time online again I'm really looking forward to your next adventure. Have you thought of checking out some of the local museums?
Spot T. and sea life adventure Spot T., it is so good to see you out and about again. Your adventure at the aquarium looked exciting and informative. I hope I'll be able to visit it soon. I'd like to encourage you to visit the National Zoo in D.C., if you get the chance, to continue your wildlife safari. It may make you a little homesick for the savannahs, though. But when you check out those pandas....well, if you were impressed with the dragon....you just won't believe it. I hope to hear from you soon about another adventure.
Spot T. Ahoy, Matey!! Wow! Oh, my, Spot T., what a big cannon you have!!!! You should sign on with Captain Jack Sparrow. I'm sure he could use another shipmate. You could sail the Carribean Seas and collect all kinds of booty. Bon Voyage! Good Luck on future adventures. I'll be watching for you!
Spot, Spot, Spot! What a joy to come home from vacation and have a postcard from you! And you're having a ball. I looked for you at the beach, and when you weren't there, I really started to get concerned, but now I see it was all for naught. Keep up your wonderful travelogue, but be sure to keep in touch so you'll know when and where we move. P.S. You are really photogenic!
A classic shot Spot,
I love the photo with the flag. I believe you should
consider selling autographed copies to people. At the
very least, I would like to frame a copy and hang it in
the office once it's renovated. Can you share with your
adoring public?
Truly, your initiative to get out there on your own and
see the sights is an inspiration to all of us who have the
pleasure of knowing you. Come back soon, but enjoy
your travels in the meantime!
Your friend (and holiday wardrobe consultant),
Diane M.
Ahoy! Spot!! You look great behind the ship's wheel.
Perhaps there is a future for you sailing the seven seas,
or at least the Chesapeake Bay.
One word of advice, though. Regarding that last photo, titled "Arrrrgghhhh!"
You might want to choose your posing positions and camera angles
carefully for future shots. I'm just sayin'.
But, gee, how wonderful that your co-workers get to travel
vicariously through you! Be sure to collect autographs, and
give us the whole scoop on any celebrity sightings! Who knows?
You just might wind up attracting some attention yourself in
your travels. I'll watch for you in the newspapers. When
you're famous, don't forget the little people who adopted you.
(Pun intended, I suppose.)
I originally hail from the savannahs of Africa, but moved to the U.S.A. for employment opportunities a few years ago. But I feel that I've been working too hard, and have only seen the inside of my office building. Therefore I've decided to take vacation, and hope to travel and see the sites of this fine country. Stay tuned for my adventures...... full info
