Wishing I could join in from afar...
Chris, there is no way for me to express my extreme jealousy. Here I am, sitting in an office cubicle in a city, looking at your pictures of absolutely sublime scenery (great photography by the way...feels like I'm actually sitting there in those mountains!) and feeling more determined than ever to set off on a journey of my own. What amazing adventures! You're driving to California, eh? Does this mean you're planning to swing through a certain notorious city in the southern end of Nevada to visit a friend? ~Alana

It's good to see you're still kicking, man. I enjoy these posts because I get to read about someone that gets to work outdoors while I'm stuck in my office doing 'engineery' things.... I think I'm going to try that hypermile thing. If you can improve efficiency that much in a van, I'm curious to see what my Sentra can do. Take care.

Long trip
Hi Chris, so glad you made it to your destination after such a long trip! It must be so weird not to have darkness. I hope you are able to sleep. Can't wait to hear about your adventures in the Yukon. Love Mom

Welcome back ....
Chris, Glad to see you writing again - but more to the point glad to see you back in the field. Can't wait to hear (or actually read) about your continuing adventures. Love, Dad

Oh Alaska....
I wish I had half the adventures that you do. I'll keep my eyes open for a job in the Missouri area.

Ditto what Dad said
For once I agree with dad, follow your dreams while you can. Love MOM

Wow, I haven't checked up on you in a while, and it looks like I've been missing out. I think I agree with your life's mission. Life should be about the full enjoyment of the pursuit of ambitious, personal goals. We all get too caught up with this notion of family and money and responsibility sometimes...We're selling ourselves short, really. Take it easy, Chris.

welcome back
Chris - it is great hearing from you again, and glad to see pictures, too. And you're right - pursuing your life dreams (goals) is an admriable quality. Focus on what you want to to, and then do it, with style and grace. Love, Dad

Wow...
I can't believe all the things that you are doing. It is so impressive; You have new stories every time I log on. Congrats on all your experiences. I am extremely envious... Eli and I are going to scuba Cozumel this summer, and thats the only thing close to exciting that is happening in Murray, KY. :)

whale of a story...
Glad you're back on the radar- it was too long of a hiatus. I for one miss hearing from you and about your adventures. And the beat goes on ......

Wow...
That is a whole lot of crazy events.... but I guess it was over quite the time period. I felt really sorry for that whale by the time I got finished reading about it... what an awesome (in the sense of truly being in awe) experience... though a sad one. I'm glad Ashley has gotten everything settled (from what it appears) and hopefully she's completely healthy and caught up on things very soon. Bartender, huh? Hm...

Nice catch up
Hi Chris, So good to hear from you and your experiences. I hadn't heard the whale story. Wow, what a story! Hope to hear more of your adventures. Love Mom PS I assume Ashley had a kidney infection not a kidnet affection. Had to give you a hard time about that one.

Glad to hear from you
Nice to hear what the cat drug in ...... I still have not seen my first whale in person. I am envious .......... FYI: working towards my first Iron Man Race in August.

Beautifully Tragic
Wow, the whale story made me want to cry. That must have been desperately sad, yet beautiful in a way, watching a creature of such majesty pass away like that. And I think you may be right in that it didn't want to be alone. I wonder what happened to it, to injure it so badly.

lesson for me
{{See my comment dated May 27th and titled 'vocab lesson'}} Just wanted to let you know that it was my turn to learn a little english lesson from your last blog. I always thought the saying was "for all intensive purposes" and reading in your blog "for all intents and purposes" made so much more sense and I found the history on wikipedia. I'll say it again, I love a good paradigm shift where you thought something to be one way your whole life only to find you were wrong. It was great to hear you found an alternate me in the world. Glad to hear you're thinking of me out there on your great adventure. Maybe we'll get the chance to connect over the holidays. I found out that I'm going to the Lexington office and starting after the new year. Was it not that long ago that I shared in your first view of the ocean in LA? And now you live in BAJA?!?! Keep living the dream! Fill your back pocket with sand. When we meet again, I want a story for every grain! Peace Bro, ~E

Chris, love hearing about your travels. Several LOLs and so entertaining. I hope you didn't learn from experience to shake out your boots and shuffle your feet in the water. Have a great Kayaking experience. Take dare of yourself. Love Mom

Sarchasm
My comment on the mountains and oceans was most certainly sarchastic. There are no mountains or oceans anywhere near Kentucky, which is a huge bummer and a big part of why I love being out here. :) -Soarpheat

geography
Chris, I am glad you think Kentucky is close to the mountains and the ocean. I guess it is all relative to the amount of time you have to travel there. Your trip to Canada sound incredible. I am glad you got the chance to get to know Ashley's family a bit better. Take care of yourself and keep the details coming. Love Mom
