Iran We have jumped through their hoops but aren't hopeful on this first attempt. Looks like it will be on to Turkey and then into E. Europe. We may have another go later on.
So when are you two going to join the caravan?
Thanks Hi Guys, thanks for the birthday cheer! I look forward to updates from the Indian leg of the trip. Shame about the Iranian visa situation. I hope they come through in India for you.
thanks We have been using the bottled stuff most of the time but I think the tablets might be easier. We will give it a go. No new wars in Africa so far so it is looking good.
A couple of tips for India Hi, when we were in India we used the water purifying tablets and never had a problem with any water just filled up from any water tap, put the tablet in and not a problem. We stuck to vegetable dishes mainly and fruit. Neither of us had any gastric problems. Good luck enjoy, it is a great place. See you in Africa!
Italian Bikes So, you going to meet us when we get to Italy? Not sure when that will be but probably not till mid-ish 2010. We will need an interpreter and you will be speaking it by then eh?
Che Thanks for that....and that is now your challenge. You are going to have to find a depiction of the man for each blog post from now on! Easy! have fun.
Comments or Private Messages Either is fine. I go into emails a little more often and I am still learning the system here but it is nice to get comments.
Road conditions Just a heads up on one of the other peculiarities of NZ roads. The tarmac that they use seems to have a quite low melting point. Consequence is that it tends to go a bit soft - even melt - in temperatures as low as 30, especially at altitude. At least that was my experience. Can result in a little more excitement than you need when discovered in the middle of a corner, particularly if you are trying to make the Hippie Camper handle like my Cooper S !! Take care in the unlikely event that it warms up on the North Island...
Gorgeous piccies! Don't worry, I still remember the ones from Alaska. Glacier... glacier... glacier... rock! ... glacier. Looking forward to seeing more. Glad you got some warm clothes too!
Fantastic Photos Just catching up with your travels. Your photos are fantastic and your travel blog is a great idea. Look forward to maybe catching up with you when you land back in Brisbane.

Congratulations! I think it is wonderful that you are taking this step and wish you well. My Dad and Stepmother have just returned from 2 months travelling around Europe and had a fabulous time. My Dad had never been travelling before and it has been truly eye opening for him. I know how our 6 month adventure travelling Australia changed our lives forever - so enjoy!!!
Our travels over the years have often sought out those places that we haven't yet experienced. We have loved chasing new places, but there is a change underway. We continue to enjoy experiencing other cultures along with their food, beverages, history and ways of life but now, having a little more freedom, we will also make more effort to seek out out such things as music events and festivals, particular natural attractions that we have missed and places where we can better appreciate the history of a place and its people.
The attraction of the road less travelled and the place less visit... full info
