Pretty pictures.... :) This was very nice to read! I was actually wondering about you as I logged on today, hoping to read another posting by you.
I loved the shots of the fruit and the river. Can't wait to read more! (btw, I have a friend heading out to Honduras as we speak. She's doing 2 yrs with the Peace Corps. I'm SO jealous :P)
Nice It sounds really nice. You sound so peaceful and content! I think you are so right, it was an ingenious plan!
That river makes me so jealous! Our concrete river in LA is such a poor excuse for a river, how amazing it would be to have something like that flowing through the city!
And Yonayker... oh boy... save that one for a rainy day! :D
Thank god for olives! See - if you ever get cranky, there's the answer! (By the way, I too have bemoaned the price of cherimoyas in the States. Lucky girl!) I must say that I agree with you, it doesn't seem like this is the 2nd largest city in Peru.... It looks so beautiful though. I'm in love with the bridge over the river. So glad you decided to stay put for once. Enjoy it while it lasts! :)
Where are the pig feet I get to comment first. I guess that's what happens when you sit around waiting to read your daughter's blog. The olives and fruit look good but you should have thrown in a picture of pigs feet for your mom and grandpa's benefit. Glad things are going well, take care.
Love Dad
Auntie Jen- Tell me about it! If I could figure out how I´d be bringing home Mauricio and Joseph (and possibly Angel!) They´re such great kids.
Things are going really well. It´s nice to have a stable place to stay for awhile (I´m not feeling as worn out by travel) and good to have something to do during the days.
I'm ready to adopt! It's fun to be home and able to read your blog and see your pictures, and mostly to hear how well things are going -- Grandma is on the phone with your dad right now. I just ran out there to tell him that I want you to bring Angelito home to me -- what a doll! I hope things continue to go well. Sounds like you've already made friends and have plans for some adventures. Have fun rafting tomorrow and I look forward to the next blog. Love ya! P.S. Nice job on the laundry!
Anitza- Thanks, sometimes I can only get other volunteers to pronounce names for me and I just try my best from that. With the older kids I can ask them and look on school notebooks for spellings, but with the babies and toddlers I just make my best guess.
Good luck Hi sweetie, just wanted to wish you all the best for this summer and let you know that I'm looking forward to more updates to read in between nappies and feeding. I'll let you know when she gets here by the way :) I'm waiting and waiting...
Here we go again... Let's get one thing straight - you are not going to get lice. Or scabies. Or pink eye. Or anything else of which your OCD/paranoid little brain has convinced you!!!!!! [Oh man - did I just ruin it by mentioning pink eye? You just ran to the mirror to check, didn't you?] :) The kids look beyond adorable, by the way. And what with all the new sword-fighting skills they'll teach you, you'll be all prepared to come back and do battle with Bel Air kids in the fall!
Yay! I can't believe you are already back over there! But I am so happy that you updated. And I can hear your voice come loud and clear this time, so I am really happy. That looks like a lot of fun and you are such an amazing person for going out and working on your vacation.
I think that Maria is Maria Eugenia. My aunt has the same name.
loved it A- tahnks for sending the great pics I really loved to see all the amazing ground art and the beautiful little girl with the angel wings! Love
Katie
Love the blog! Thanks Shelea (and Arantxa) for keeping up the blog. I love reading about your adventures and living vicariously though you. Have a great trip!!
It wasn't posted until sometime in September. I was a bit slow to get things together after I got home. Plus it's so damn long it took awhile to get it all out. I thought about not doing it, but I hated to have one of the most important parts of my trip left off the record. Glad you enjoyed it!
Yeah, lots of people were commenting on the time between updates. There was just me and one other girl and the guide. It was neat to be in such a small group.
Yay update! I was gonna send you a message today because I thought it was long enough for you to update, even if you were reading HP! :D
The trees look really cool, I am glad that you took photos of them. And the horseback riding looks like it was fun. How many people were on the ride?
the important thing is... I know that most people would comment on the beauty of this sacred place, your achievement in making it there and back without plummeting to your death, and other such insightful topics. I on the other hand would like to note that your haircut looks really good, both in a headband and a scarf.
ummm - hello??? Aren't we missing something here? I mean, isn't the point of this whole trail adventure that you were supposed to GET somewhere in the end? Where the [bleep] is that part of your commentary??? What's up with the cliffhanger?!?!?! :)
