SeniorHoneyMoon

Until I married my dear husband 45 years ago, I had never travelled outside of the US or even west of the Mississippi. For our honeymoon those many years ago, we were able to fly to Europe, where we bought a VW at the factory in Wolfsburg Germany and explored many different European countries for three months--on a very small budget. I was hooked!
Within a year of returning to the States and beginning our life together, I found a career in travel which has taken me literally around the world. I never tire of traveling--it is a part of my soul. Bill and I have travelled together, with friends, and for many years, with our inquisitive children, Derek, Chris and Katy. Now, with five grandchildren, we hope to continue this tradition and introduce each of them to the richness of other cultures, the fascination of world history, the physical beauty of many lands and most important, prepare them for a world that is complex, sometimes ugly, but always filled with the goodness and kindness of strangers.
This trip is called "Senior Honeymoon" because in that first honeymoon of 1971, as we were headed down the coast of Italy to Rome, we were burglarized in Genoa, our car broken into and all taken. Losing our passports, money, cameras, clothes, etc. we decided to forego our plans and travel instead to Spain where we had accommodations waiting for us -- a gift from friends in Germany.
Now, 45 years later we are heading to those places in Italy that we missed!
