Great Stuff - From: The end of the road?
I have to admit guys, that it almost brought a tear to my eye now you have completed your amazing journey! What an inspiration you are!! I learnt much and enjoyed reading your writings and viewing your pictures. I also learnt when we cycled together in Tassi that I am not a good navigator and have since invested in a tomtom Sat Navigator. All's well that ends well. Stay in touch won't you.

The next step? - From: The end of the road?
Well we all know what celebrities do when they lose a lot of weight just in time for Christmas? Yes, you've guessed it, release a fitness video detailing exactly how to do it, so the couch potatoes can believe that they too can get a body like yours in the comfort of their own home in front of their own TV, whilst still drinking ten pints of lager a night, topped off with a fish and chip supper. I wonder how many you would sell? I'm really looking forward to catching up with you in person to celebrate your safe return. Let me know when you've settled back in and I'll fix a date. Lots of love Claire

The End of The Road? - From: The end of the road?
Dear Rich and Di, You safely made it home with so many fantastic memories of the people and places you have ridden to. Reading through your blogs, as arm chair observers, has also been a wonderful journey. We have been captivated by the outstanding commentary and of course the superb photos. I don't think this will be the last journey for you both but it may be a while before you're gone for quite so long. In question to how far you have travelled?- I presume you mean actual riding? My guess is around 25,000 klm. I'm probably out by a long way. I still think you should now turn your writing ability and photographic expertise into publishing this into a book. You have the basis for a dam good read. We were privileged to have met you in China and to have been able to share some of your experiences with you. Love Ros and Pete

Still keeping up with the Pearts over here, another great set of photos and words. As for the last line, unwanted employment would be anything like 'Joint Venture' or 'Back filling' I guess! Hope the stress on yours is not hampering your final push towards the end. Presume you have been following the GB Team in the Cycling? We have done rather well eh?

Catching up! - From: Oaxaca wanderings
Not visited your blog for a couple of weeks as we've been preparing for our own travels, on our travels and recovering from our travels. No-where as near as energetic as yours of course. Good to see you are still experiencing some fantastic scenery and cultures. Not sure I fancy the isea of chillis for breakfast though! This will make you feel old-Ross turned 18 last Friday and is now treating the house as more of a hotel than ever! Keep safe for the last leg. Love Claire, Shaun, Ross and Cait.

Gorging Yourselves again - From: Oaxaca wanderings
Another bright cherpy entry as your journey gets closer to its finale. We were however pleased to see that you still know how to celebrate a birthday in style. What on earth were you thinking of on the day before you take to the road on steep uphill riding, to contemplate a 3 course meal, + beer, and then to follow it with a lump of cake?. Hope you both enjoyed it!! We`ll have a proper beer for your birthday when we next meet. Joking apart another brilliant report. Love N & D.

Whoever are the blog scribe and photographer, are making this journey more and more interesting with every section. The photographs are brilliant, and the writing is so interesting that one reads it over and over again. We will all be sad when this adventure is over. Good riding.

Smuggling opportunity?? - From: Having a Whale of a Time
Its great to finally see your fantastic wildlife pictures, but the one thing that sticks in my mind for your latest encounters is the price of diesel!!! You wil have a big shock when you return to see how cost of petrol generally has shot up-the cost in Ecuador is a definate snip-any chance of you bringing a tanker load back? The equator stories - From: Having a Whale of a Time
Well, I don't know about the other equator tricks, but the one about the water going down the drain one way in the northern hemispherre and down the other in the south is not true...hate to take the fun out of things, but one can actually change the course of the water...saw this on the science Discovery channel a few weeks ago adn I was so upset, but I am over it now. Will try theegg trick when I get home today. Take care on your trip up north. Madpea

Pharmacy report!! - From: Transitions
Trusting that Di has now fully recovered, I can safely say that the pharmaceuticals Di was throwing down her throat, although licensed in the UK have not been dispensed by any branches of a well known chemist in my memory! But hey as long as they do the job! Not only did you stretch my professional knowledge, it was also tricky tring to work out the time difference, strange to talk to you at 3am your time, 10am our time. Hope then cruise was fantastic. Today is April 6th, 2 weeks ago we went to Spain and it was snowing when we left, its at it again today! The 2 weeks in glorious sunny Spain was the reason we have been out of touch. And what an adventurous 2 weeks it`s been for you, floods, strikes, having to spend money instead of pedal power to get from a to b. sorry that was in your last text. The photos are fantastic and the whole journey has been illustrated well by the changes in food as you travel further! Not sure what Rosemary Conley would say about your diet in an effort to lose 15kg between you, but if it meant I could eat an ice cream that size, bring it on! Anyway, a belated happy birthday, Shaun is delighted that he has been joined by someone in the 50+ club-just wait till you get home to all the junk mail offering you life insurance and funeral plans just for you! Not sure if Saga could match your holiday expectations though. Just to make you feel really old,Ross takes his driving test on Thursday-remember that visit you made to me in Taylor St Wilmorton just as I was going into labour Richard? As the sun sets slowly in the West, we bid a fond farewell to 'our intrepid travellers'. Like the characters..... of Patrick Leigh Fermor, Jack Kerouac and Wilfred Thesiger...... they just keep going and going. They of course need energy to sustain them on their journeys Perhaps they could be remembered by some as an every day item. A Hoover - vacuum cleaner; A Singer - sewing machine; A Peart - FOOD PROCESSOR!!! So glad that you have enjoyed your travels here and been able to see so many diverse areas of Australia. Last September 15th it seemed impossible that you could have achieved in 2 and a half months what you obviously have done. I hope I'm not regarded as that shape yet, smiling, sometimes, putting on weight, maybe, but I refuse to accept that I'm that bad. May be its the concave mirror I use. The pictures look great, I am envious. Love, DAD XXXX

Feel the burn - From: Out of China
You must feel a great sense of achievement covering the miles that you have. I was thinking about you yesterday when I rode Dave's bike to the butchers in Borrowash. It took me 6 minutes from your house to get there, and 20 minutes from Borrowash back to my house! How long do you think it will take me to get up to your standard? On second thoughts don't answer that! Glad you are having a good time, seems like you have finished China on a real high. Looking forward to hearing what you think of down under. Take care. Kerry x

Chinese Food in Geordie Land - From: Messin' about on the river
As an allegedly well deserved treat, my colleagues and I were taken down China Town in Newcastle yesterday. The demolishing of the city centre continues although it has yet to reach St James' Park (shame Ross would say!). We were very (!) adventurous- chicken and sweetcorn soup, barbecued spare ribs and shredded beef accompanied by mountains of prawn crackers. Perhaps we will ask for dog next time and see what response we get. Love to you both, Claire,Shaun, Ross and Cait

Chickens feet - From: Messin' about on the river
Can't wait to get home and tell the kids that the Halloween treats need to go back and we are converting to the healthy options of Chicken feet (well they are - not feeling as brave as you Di) Did Richard bottle out of trying them. Glad you are still enjoying yourselves. Do you resemble the chicken and duck yourselves yet or are you now more like Arnie? Love reading the blog. Love to you both and keep sending the texts. ey up you 2 - From: Rites of Passage
Ey up me ducks. We are reading your log with great interest. We have tried to follow your journey on a map but got lost 2 days in. I think it's your Geordie spelling. They don't have names like Skeggy or Derby. The food sounds interesting, cockerels head etc. I publish a newsletter for the home I work in and have included your logs for them to read. I publish around 50 copies and there is great interest. can you give the old folk a mention in your next log. A point of order, are you riding a Raleigh 3 speed. You can't get better than a Raleigh. The weather here is dull and raining, derby are losing so it's a typical wet Sunday afternoon. Saw Geoff Gwynitt in Skeg the other day. He is moving to Lincs in Nov. Look after yourselves and keep on enjoying the experience. Don't forhet my birthday card, 5th Nov. I'd hate for you to miss it. All the best and lots of love from Big John and Cynthia

Do I still have a son in law? - From: A life in the day of two foreigners on heavenly bicycles
Did you know that there is in Wales a road that appears to everybody who views it, to go down hill, but in fact it definitely goes up hill. You did go to China didn`t you?? Joking aside though, you seem to be coping better each day with the strangeness that is China, and no doubt you have made new friends on your journey. Good luck, keep up the good work. N and D

I have to admit to being confused. Isn`t Kunming the starting point you spent about 3 weeks cycling away from? Not to worry, your latest report confirms that you are having a life changing experience, and appear to be on top of the situation. Your cooking skills always were good but you seem to be aquiring new ones every day.May even let you MAKE us a Chinese when you get back. Keep on enjoying yourselves and may all the roads you travel be level, flat and tarmac. N & D

Keep the reviews coming, they are interesting, informative and funny, and we enjoy reading them. Thanks for your birthday wishes, to which I did reply, but my phone won`t let you use ordinary text, its this predictive stuff and at my age its too damn complicated. Any way keep enjoying yourselves. Love from us to you.
