It will come as no surprise to hear that we managed to get to sleep very easily last night! We still woke up very early but felt totally refreshed and ready for a day of exploring in the sunshine. After walking around Darling Harbour yesterday we set off in the other direction to Circluar Quay this morning to find somewhere for breakfast. Found a lovely place down by the docks and ate alfresco while enjoying views of Sydney Harbour Bridge. There were so many people around, a combination of workers pouring in from the Metro station ready for a day in the office and travellers arriving on the massive Royal Caribbean cruise ship which was parked up in the docks. The longest day ever…. It’s been over 50 hours since we last slept in a proper bed, and it feels it! As is usual with me, I was picked at random (or maybe I just have a guilty looking face) and subjected to a very thorough search at Heathrow security - scans, pat down, wands, shoe swabs – the works! Roy just sailed through. Other than that, it was a pretty smooth airport experience. We were quite impressed with the Qantas Business Lounge but overheard another regular traveller complaining it had gone downhill since pre-Covid, so perhaps we’re just easily pleased! There were times it felt like this trip would never happen, but work is now finished (well, for me it is – Roy will never truly finish as he’s taking his work laptop with him!) our dogs have been dropped off ready for their holidays (I suspect they may not want to come back home!) and the hot tub has been emptied. We are packed and ready to go……………. and sit on a plane for the best part of 24 hours! We’re booked to fly the Qantas ‘kangaroo’ route, with a quick stopover in Singapore. Can’t say the long flight is something we’re looking forward to, but the excitement of being able to travel Business Class is making up for it. So, this is it!
