We flew out of Dulles around 11:00 pm on Sunday, September 3. Thanks to the five-hour time difference, it was 11:00 am when we landed at Heathrow, London’s main airport. It was 6:00 am standard time, but surprisingly, I wasn’t particularly tired at first. I was just thrilled to be in England at last! After debarking, we collected our luggage. Heathrow very nicely has luggage trolleys stacked near the baggage carousels, so that you can push your suitcases around easily. Getting through customs was actually a lot easier than I anticipated. First, we had to wait in a very long queue (pronounced cue, British for “line”) to show our passports to the airport official. When I showed him mine, he asked why I was in the UK.
