There is a group here called the American Society, which is a group of expatriates (expats), mostly a social group. Tonight we attended a reception at the US Consulate’s home in a ritzy part of town; the Polish consulate was next door, and it was a street of big trees and big walls with serious security. We met some really interesting, lovely people. Madeleine, the principal of the American School here, and her husband, who teaches 6th grade at the school, were really dear. They have made careers - lives - of teaching at American Schools in fascinating locations all over the world, and they and their 3 children are truly world citizens. There were a number of expats in business here or working for the consulate, and all with interesting stories. We plan to join
