1st August 2014 We made our way to the bank to change our pounds to rupees and were instantly ushered to the front of the queue which massively speeded the process up: it wasn't too painful but did require me to present my passport and fill in a form with a home address and a local on e for Nepal. Spent the rest of the morning wandering though Patan and attempted to get a public bus to Thamel: this (I maintain) was fairly successful and enjoyable except for the small detail that we were in fact on the wrong bus and need up in Chabahil and then had a 40 min walk to get to Thamel. Needless to say that as soon as we arrived in Thamel we found ourselves a shop and bought a map.
