Got in Thursday at 7am, greeted by Sarah and Hugo ah! Awful bus trip - flying to Alice springs, sod the fare! Stayed at Hugo's beautiful house in Hawthorne. Meet up with Sarah's family (Masi) at there place in Doncaster. Such a nice family. Also meet Jane/Lockey/Violet/Lyla... brilliant! Wish I could have spent more time with them... Went out in the city Friday night (West end) did a lot of bar hopping. Went shopping in Camberwell before going to see a band in Brunswick St (Fitzroy) called North Carolina - they were funking good. Moved on to Polly's were I met [View Full Entry]

Arrived Friday with Team Norway (Therese and Fred), heading straight for Bondi Beach to meet with Curro later in the evening at the Royal Hotel (I loved this pub). Curro is my hero!! Spanish speaking bbq (ah Nacho) friday night followed by Bondi Hotel (wrongest place in the world). Saturday, went to the beach - walked along the coast line (Australians are insane - whatever time of day you will always see 50 people running - there were bench presses on the coastline), went to a few clubs (nice bars), stayed in Bondi and went to see Jack Johnson in Centinenel [View Full Entry]

Magic Island

Oceania » Fiji » Mamanuca Islands » Mana Island
Lost Friday March 7th 2008, a date I will never retrive - insane!! The flight was 10 hours, but I crossed the date line - again insane. Air Pacific a the ones for the alcoholics, red wine until I fell asleep and champagne until I landed! Stayed in Nadi one night, crazy number of Indians on the main land - the came over in the 1800's and now don't have any family in India! Visited a local market in the city of Latoka about an hour away again LOADS of Indians. Mana (Magic) Island is paradise on earth. However, there are [View Full Entry]

Perú is wicked!! Was slightly disappointed with Bolivia, my own fault think that I built it up to much.. Perú on the other hand I had no expectations and I have been very happy with the outcome!! First stop was Puno, still on the lake, there is a line that divides Bolivia and Perú on the lake!! We stayed only one day, enough to visit the only attraction Islas Flotantes (Floating Islands). Really mental! They are made using totora reeds that grow in the shallows of the lake. They also use them to make there houses and boats. They are [View Full Entry]

La Paz, The Peace, whatever!! So La Paz was good fun, cheap as chips and all you could possibly what!! However it was polluted as hell!! Staying on one of the main streets was a pain.. The altitude was an incredible excuse to walk slowly up hills and stairs!! The city also had lots of markets, some aimed at the tourists some not at all (these were the interesting ones). Went on a city tour (the most we actually did in La Paz) which took us to different parts of the city. One of these was the south, you would [View Full Entry]

¡Ustedes, te extraño mucho! Alright people!! Mendoza to Santiago was the best bus journey ever.. we crossed the Andes and got all the scenery for the price of the bus ticket!! Amazing views, the borders crossing was inside a snow capped mountain range, slightly mental!! Got to Santiago and found a hostel where the man on duty loved Indians!! Best deal we have got so far!! Stayed one night, stumbled on the best gay club I have been to yet, and left! Headed for Vallparaiso, supposedly the Miami of the South, urgh no!! A beautiful small town though, cobbled streets [View Full Entry]

Before I say this, please remember that we travelled for 2 weeks between Venezuela and Brazil. On leaving Rio the thought of 3 days to get to Uruguay was just not appealing, so we copped out and bought a flight!! Straight from Rio to Montevideo (which translates to I can see the Mountains) the capital of Uruguay. Uruguay, from beginning to end, reminded me England. Dull weather and the people were pasty (this is due to the lack of Sun nothing else..). We immediately moved to La Paloma, meant to be one of the best beaches for the poorer. On [View Full Entry]

Búzios... Lovely for the rich and famous.. so Jenta and Dee felt right at home whilst us travellers, with our flip flops and combats, stood out somewhat!! That was easily fixed by raiding their suitcases!! Highlight was watching with Jenta watching Capoeira on the beach. Capoeira is a martial art type dance, invented by slaves to fight their oppressors.. massively popular with all. Was discovered by Brigitte Bardot, not that I understand this.. as she discovered it in the1960´s.. urm?? Not really a whole lot to report on the place, nice for a few days, but a lot of the [View Full Entry]

Hedonism rules!!

South America » Brazil » Pernambuco
OH MY GOD!!!!! Brazil was absolutely insane!! I mean INSANE.. the most hedonist culture so far, do not think that it can actually be topped for outrageous behaviour!! Was it because it was the carnaval.. don{t think so, think this is their way!! So, girls Bando, Jenta and Dee finally arrived in Natal.. we immediately moved on to Olinda where we were staying for the carnaval. We had arranged our accommodation though a friend from Colombia, Clare. We stayed with a family who rent out their house, with them there, every year. Their were a few of them, the oldest daugther [View Full Entry]
