Hi, We started our day by getting really neat pictures out of our 9th floor window. We checked out and went to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. We ate at the largest McDonalds we had ever seen in our lives, on one side it had four kitchens and on the other side of the room the same and a McDonald’s dessert station. We spent a couple of hours at the museum, had fun, took pictures and bought souvenirs. We then went to the Library of Congress and did a Geocache, so we could say we did one in Washington, D.C. We then headed to Gettysburg, we kept getting off the pike, but we never found a gas station. We did find a gate to the CIA, a gate to the Park Police headquarters, and ... read more

Hi, Everybody Today we went to Hershey, PA and toured the chocolate factory and got a free sample of chocolate which ended up being a mini Hershey bar. We took lots of pictures and as you can see we bought a lot of candy. Did you know that there streets are the color of chocolate and the street light are Hershey Kisses, the dirt even looks like chocolate, what a place. From Hershey we drove to Philadelphia, you have no idea how hard it was to navigate around the city streets. As we made our way around the city we watched the people in the long boats in the river, that was awesome sight. We made it an early night as they had no internet service for us to work with. Hi, All Today we woke up in Philadelphia, PA and from our room on the ninth floor we can see the awesome sky line of downtown Philadelphia, Independence Hall, and the Phillis stadium, wow what a view. We went to old town and saw the Liberty Bell and took dozens of pictures. From there it only took an hour and a half to get to New Jersey where we have a hotel for the next two nights. We had to walk about a mile up hill to catch a bus into New York City which only took about seven minutes to get there, oh and we went through the Lincoln Tunnel. We arrived about two blocks from Time Square, but we wanted to go up the Empire State Building first. The walking distance was very minimal ... read more

Hi All, The Blogs are going to get done, we are so tired, it is taking longer to do. We're trying to put them together on the road and then download them at night. So here is day 6... We got up this morning in Tulsa Oklahoma and the clouds are super dark. We ate breakfast at a restaurant and by the time we came out there was a lightening storm. We stayed in front of the storm, we got lots of rain, tons of rain. We watched the lightening for quite some time. We heard thunder a couple of times. We made it to Missouri about 10:14 am and stopped at the visitors center. Oklahoma and Missouri have been so green and forested, it is really neat. Our Room at the motel6 last night smelled ... read more

Hi All, Last night we got into Amarillo, TX. about 10 pm and it took awhile to find the Motel 6 (which ended up being a big mistake). We checked in around 11:30 pm not knowing it was that late because of the time change. This morning at 8:20 am Rylan and I went out to the parking lot to take out the first load to put in the van and Rylan noticed the window on the passenger front was busted out. I went in and called the police and they came out really fast, well there were two other vehicles in the lot that were broken into, and the police were already there. We ended up only losing the Tom Tom Gps and the Garmin Gps holder. Julia was freaking out but Heidi and I ... read more

Hi Everyone, Well, tired we got up and headed to town where we saw the place where the writers of the movie 'Cars' got their ideas. Here is Wigwam Motel and look for 'Mater'. We also saw tons of petrified rock from the Petrified Forest National Park, we went into the museum and actually left with a piece of petrified wood. As we drove by the park you could see tons of logs of Petried wood all along the interstate. Next came Albuquerque, New Mexico. Pam bought John his birthday present in Old Town Albuquerque, she had to ship it home. We also drove over the very muddy Rio Grande river, we pulled over to go look at it closer but they had it all fenced off. After spending a couple of hours looking around, Pam ... read more

Hi All, This morning we drove over Hoover Dam, the security checkpoint guard recognized us from yesterday. They had to search vehicles and since we have the car topper, we had to open it up and let them look in it. In Arizona we thought that the landscape would be like southern California, but we saw many wildflowers and cactus that was different than we had ever seen. It was neat to watch, till we started changing elevations. We saw lots of grass plains that were brown and dead. Then we went hours in pine forests, some of the forests had a mixture of trees, but some were dry and dead. We had lunch in Seligman and took pictures of Route 66, (our first encounter.) We also thought that the Grand Canyon was desert on top, ... read more

Hi Everyone, Today we went to Hoover Dam, Kids liked it a lot. We went down 500+ feet into the dam and went into the generator room on the Nevada side, and we went into the diversion pipe line cave that houses the huge pipe. We had enough water flowing under us, they said it would fill a olympic size swimming pool in one minute. You could feel the rumbling under your feet, pretty powerful. We then went up and walked to Arizona for the fun of it. Took pictures of the Dam and the new extension bridge that is being built for traffic to use so they have better flow to Arizona. We cruised the Old down town strip, now called the Freemont Experience. Then we cruised the new Las Vegas strip. We stopped at ... read more

First day of our Road Trip, we geocached on the way down, but only stopped to do 4 caches. Las Vegas is about 86 degrees, it seems hot after being about 60 degrees up north. We went to a buffet at The Orleans, Rylan ate too much and was very unhappy with his stomach as we walked up the Las Vegas strip. We went to the M&M store, but of course we wanted it all! The tour movie was closed for renovation, that was a big bummer, kids were sad. But we got souvenirs and the new M&M pretzels M&M's, they are awsome! Then we walked the strip some more as it was getting dark and the kids were educated on what comes out after dark, which they found out why Vegas is referred to as ... read more
