Geo: 43.5544, 7.02062Always the worst of days as you are left killing time!!Check out wasn't until 12 noon, so we had a laze and a late breakfast back at our fave haunt. It was peeing down with rain so we elected to sit inside! After checkout (and a little homes under the hammer!) we went to buy our train ticket to the station so we knew how much money we had left over to blow on lunch! It was quite a wait but they sent you to people who spoke your language, for which I was very grateful again that I did not need my GCSE French again!! We returned to Au Hit for lunch (where we went on our first night!) to see our crazy little French man again!! We both had seafood and it ... read more

Geo: 43.5547, 7.02058I'm afraid to say this is going to be short but sweet!! This morning, after the mother of all thunder storms last night (I watched it out the window as the rumblings of thunder kept on causing the sensor for the bathroom light to come on!!!) we went for breakfast where we had gone our first morning as it was so reasonably priced and exactly the same coffee and croissants as all the other cafes around it!! The sun was Shining more than the met office had expected and so we headed to the beach and stayed there until around 4pm!! The only movement I had was rotating myself and moving the kindle a little to block the sun from my face as I read!! James ventured for some food as he is a ... read more

Geo: 43.7405, 7.42543After a bad nights sleep for me, the morning was slow to get going... Anyone who knows me, when I'm tired knows I am not a pleasant person to be around!! We wandered to the train stations abt 10 to toddle off to Monaco...We attempted the ticket machines, however my GCSEs French of 16 yrs ago wasn't enough and we ran away to the ticket office. This place was huge, with counter machines to take your turn. We looked a little lost, when I overheard a lady talking through the ticket machine in English! We jumped at the chance and proceeded to get our tickets.Armed with pain au chocolate and a cappuccino, we boarded the busy train, through nice to Monaco and Monte Carlo. We found our way down (a steep descent down the ... read more

Geo: 43.5546, 7.02063Today was a day of two halves. The morning consisted of going for breakfast.... Where we ended up at Da Laura's for a cappuccino and a croissant, across the way from where we were yesterday morning. We did venture to the front, but for triple the price and the tents still up from the festival obscuring the view, it seemed a little excessive!! The guy, I think was Italian, made us personalised coffees and once he had sent a runner to the bakery, our croissants arrived too!! The morning was spent by the pool, a little quieter today, apart from one annoying idiot, who kept flipping into the pool, drowning everyone else! Luckily that lasted for abt 20mins before he got bored!! As the afternoon was due to get a little cloudier, we decided ... read more

Geo: 43.5546, 7.02063Yes he did... But I will get to that bit later!!After epically failing to stay awake for poldark last night, sleep came pretty easily, although the air con froze me in the early hrs. With my body clock waking me up for work at 8am local time, we were out on a breakfast hunt by 9.We were after a 'typical' French cafe, rickety chairs and tables on the pavement, with old men drinking coffee with rolled up fags, over gesturing at the world going by. We indeed find such a cafe, although it was owned by Italians!! I attempted to order in French, when the guy asked if we were English, as his English was better than his French!!! 2 croissants and cappuccinos wasn't much different in French, English or Italian! Either way I ... read more

Geo: 43.5544, 7.0209So we managed to get into our room a little earlier and have a good lummox (having been up for far too many hours!!). We then ventured upstairs to our rooftop pool with amazing views for more of a lummox!! Eventually we managed to acquire 2 sun-beds side by side and baked in the afternoon sun. Reading my kindle and having a snooze (jamesy!!). We dipped into the pool, which having sat in 30degree sun for an hr or two was frigging freezing to get into!! After another fair abt of time drying off again, we decided to come in again to have a nap.... Put on the tv and have found pointless.... Hoping this bbc1 will have poldark on later!!... read more

Geo: 43.5547, 7.02066Our hotel is literally a stones throw from the train station, which meant again we found it relatively easily! Unable to get into our room for another 4hrs, we got changed in the toilets into non English weather clothes and headed out for a wander. Straight down the road, and we were at the front. Parts of the beach was packed, others, clearly more exclusive and had barely a sole on them. We stumbled across the yachting festival, which cost £15 each to go in! I didn't want to spend that, and neither did James. James however wanted to sneak in, but boring old laura, refused to let him!! The people walking around in their straw hats, white chinos and navy polo shirts were like a small army there were that many!! After a ... read more

Geo: 43.7034, 7.2662On landing, we joined the back of a very long queue for passport control, were 2 young chaps were doing things by the book and checking very thoroughly! An older guy came in and waved majority of people through with an English passport without much of a second glance!! We got through quickly so didn't really care!! After help from the 'information' people, realising we were at a different terminal from where our directions started, we hopped on the shuttle to terminal 1 to go and find the train station! There were some signs, the rest was pot luck (and James' sense of directions!). We attempted to use a ticket machine for our train billets, however with a train coming in 5 mins we both decided it would be quicker and safer to attempt ... read more

Geo: 51.1477, -0.167836Stupid o'clock doesn't even come into it. Up at three having not slept really at all during the night. I'm pretty sure I haven't seen that time in the morning for a very long time!! Fuelled with tea and a lot of makeup (just me, before the boys jump to conclusions abt James!) we headed to the summer special parking and boarded a bus full of equally shattered people, all wondering if the saving of going on an EARLY flight was worth all of this!! It was me, this time, that got frisked and scanned by security at Gatwick which made James' day I think!! After a LARGE Starbucks and James his standard flying pint, we didn't have much time before our gate was called. Good job we left then as I think we ... read more
