Hi there, Last weekend was our avalanche training course. Basically it involved 2 days of being taught how to use an avalanche transceiver, probe and shovel to find a person who has been buried in an avalanche but more importantly how to analyse the conditions to try to avoid getting caught in one in the first place! We started off the day with a presentation about how dangerous avalanches are and the different types/sizes that you can have. Then we got taught the main things to look out for when trying to determine if a slope is going to slide (amount of fresh snow, ice layers, whether it is in the sunlight etc).
