For our second day in Bangkok, Hillary and I figured we should try and get a good jump on the day. In fact, we found ourselves to be out and about just before 9am! With some better daylight, we walked around the neighbourhood to grab some clearer pictures. There are plenty of streams and water ways flowing throughout Bangkok, but the water didn’t look all too inviting. In fact, whenever we crossed open drains or exposed water ways, there just happened to be a foul odour about. O_O One thing you learn early on about Bangkok (much of Thailand in fact), the city is quite accustomed to having tourists. In other words, if you look like a tourist, be prepared to be offered a lot of different kinds of products and services. I think a t-shirt ... read more

Well, let's start with the flight. This was the long one in our series of flights, spanning about 11 hours in the air. We had our fingers crossed for the same luck we had with our flight to London (a half empty plane), but no dice; the plane was full. We still had many of the same luxuries though, like movies and blankets, which helped a lot. The biggest plus was that falling asleep was pretty easy this time. With little sleep the night before, and a full day trekking across London, all it took was a few hours and we were both out. We awoke to daylight again (actually, more like mid afternoon), and a new timezone. Lucky thing about Thailand though is that it's 12 hours ahead of our home back in Canada. It ... read more

Kevin and I arrived at Heathrow airport around 9am on Monday, January 26th, right on time! We quickly got through Customs and hopped on the London Underground, heading towards Central London. We got Day Passes for the Underground, which cost us 7.50 pounds each. This way, we could make as many stops as we wanted. We had 12 hours total in London and wanted to make the most of out time! The temperature was about 5-6 degrees, a little chilly. Good thing we had our rain coats! First stop: Westminster, where we saw Westminster Abbey, the London Eye and the Houses of Parliament. The architecture is incredible! The security in London is pretty tight. Cops everywhere, some with machine guns! Kevin and I couldn't resist taking our pictures in one of the red telephone booths. It's ... read more

And so it began! Hillary and I arrived at Pearson International Airport on Sunday, January 25, 2009 to begin our little cross globe adventure, which would eventually land us in Australia for our SWAP Working Holiday. We made sure to arrive plenty early at the airport since it was an international flight to London, England. Although, maybe even a little too early for a Sunday night (which was my fault, lol). The airport was empty. Showing our pre-printed boarding passes and going through security was a breeze! There was about 5 security lines available (which the x-ray machines), and not a single person in line anywhere. Next thing we know, we found ourselves picking up some food at Tim Hortons with plenty of time to spare. But all was not peachy... I had lost my credit ... read more
