Anne Frank Hiezzy Is this Paul Frank's sister? Sorry had to make a joke...this entry reminded me of the time I visited this house. Heavy experience to say the least. Thought that the "It all keeps going" entry was beautiful, and so true. Keep up the blog...I like traveling with your POV.
Who said it was architecturally beautiful? No, Oslo doesn't have spectacular architecture... it is that Scandanavian modernist movement... that is the city hall by the way. =0P Norway is for the spectacular NATURAL scenery, not the architectural scenery. Hope the train ride was fun... don't forget the fanicular in Bergen... at or around midnight... SPECTACULAR!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading about your Amsterdam jaunt. You make me want to go back!
You're bringing back some chocolate penises to replace the chocolate you and Ronda stole from my cube last week, right? Heh.
It's pronounced like Y Just remember 'ij' is really a 'y', and you'll do mostly OK. It may help you to know that even the Dutch are amused by their language.
Avoid the Chicken Krokets in the Automaat -- if, that is, they are really chicken. And, please promise me that you won't have your patatjes oorlog experience at Febo.
Just remember that Biologisch (on food) means organic not crawling with bugs.
I'm kind of a weird person about museums. I was in Amsterdam 11 times before JohnJohn dragged in into the Rijksmuseum. I think the Rembrandts are just big dark pictures. I was however obsessed with Vermeer's "Little Street" My favorite museum in Holland is Madurodam in The Hague.
Probiotic Yoghurt Thickie??? Digestive wonder though it is, I do believe some work needs to be done on either the translation or the marketing. I don't think I want to drink something called a "thickie."
AWESOME blog!
Okay People Around Me are Scared Mostly because I laughed outloud, FREQUENTLY with this post.
The dog boys continue to mope around the house, looking for their dads, Camp Ronda is a sullen place. You, of course, are missing a stretch of SPECTACULAR weather in the Bay Area... glad you took it with you.
Love,
Ronda
Passport Yeah, I was pretty disappointed the last time I entered the EU. I travelled all over and got one passport stamp in Paris! They only stamp your passport upon entry to an EU country. Intercontinenetal travel is now like travelling from SF to New Mexico. Oh well, Cheryl and I are holding down the fort!
It's funny. I've always had the opposite experience. I haven't landed in Germany since 1999. But, remember you entered the EU in Germany, Schiphol was just an internal flight.
Omigod! You're in my favorite city, from which the fates have kept me for four looooong years! Don't forget: Stroopwafels and Mergpijpen (it means marrow bone, but you want not the meat kind, but the marzipan and chocolate kind) in the cookie section of Albert Heijn and at any Friets stand, Patatjes Oorlog (French Fry War, I want pictures).
Rusty check your email! Have fun.
Missing you all ready Greetings from Ronda and the boys at home. We miss you mucho. Glad you arrived safe and sound even if it wasn't as good as a private jet.
Hope you have fun tonight and don't forget to SLEEP.
Love,
The Del Vale Bandits
Fun Fun! Oh my gosh, please keep writing. I love hearing all about your adventures. The photos are darling. Next time, bring me!!!
This makes me even more pumped for NYC!
Love,
Elizabeth
Aloha! Mmm. I think last time I was in Maui, my diet consisted of pineapple, ahi poke, and lava flows. Lava flows are my favorite. So far, I've found nobody here on the mainland knows how to make them correctly. But I'm on a quest to prove myself wrong.
Hawaiians also love them some li hing flavored ... anything. The li hing mango is OK.
Sorry to hear about the rain, but I'm glad you were able to come back the next day. Forgot to tell you that the ahi poke at Old Lahaina Luau is to DIE for.
Call me a loser ... when you sent this blog out last year, it was right in the crux of madness. I got a chance to "live" your blog all at once this morning and look forward to reading all about your escapades in Maui. Thank you for sharing and remembering me. I miss you and wish you all the best!
Mmmm... ...Chicken-flavored potato chips??!?! That actually sounds really good to me right now. Of course, I haven't had lunch, yet. Drool...
Are you tramping while you're tramping?
Please keep these updates coming. I just love love love reading them. And the photos are wonderful!!
Happy Thanksgiving gang! Thanks for including me in yours!
Kenneth ... plus who knows else might be suckered into this ... hits the dusty trails. Follow along as we attempt not to kill each other over international waters.... full info
