On Thursday night I went to a performance of traditional dance. It was cool because Spanish dance is much more than Flamenco, which comes from the south. Up north there is actually a lot of Celtic influence- for example, one style of dance is accompanied by bagpipes! It was great to see all of the traditional costumes. For some of the dances there was a full band (8 or so men on Spanish guitar, bass, percussion, etc.) and female singers. The baile started at 8:30 pm and the intermission was at 10 pm which was a lot later than we thought it would go, and so most of us left then because we had our language final exam the next day.
