Aksumite Empire (4th Century BCE to 950 CE) The Aksumite Empire was a great trading post. It traded with India and the Mediterranian because it was on the eastern coast of Africa. This provide great ways to travel via water. The cheif export of the Aksumite Empire was ivory.At its height, Aksum controlled northern Ethiopia, Eritrea, northern Sudan, southern Egypt, Djibouti, Yemen, and southern Saudi Arabia, totaling 1.25 million km. The Aksumite Empire was loosly based off of the feudal system. Like the Egyptian pharrohs, the kings of this empire refered to themselves as the Kings of Kings. Like many other early civilizations, the Aksumite Empire was polytheistic. Theyworshiped a main god named Astar. Most of the king claimed that Astar was their ancestor.
