Living Vicariousl Jim,
Love the photos and the commentary! I've never followed a blog, and probably never will again; but it's like one of our own has escaped!
Rock on! Norm
Lots of critters Watch out for the animals crossing the roads in the morning and evenings...those moose are big! Have fun. Wish I was riding along too.
ribs I guess your Dad's ribs were much better than yours. He is really enjoying dinnertime!
Sounds as though things are going well. Hope the scenery improves soon.
Mileage today? Noticed that ya'll continued futher than the original plan. How many miles did ya'll get logged today? Damn sure wish I could be riding with ya'll! Stay safe and I'll track the ride again tomorrow.
good on you Have you thought about opening a donation site to pay for your riding?
Enjoy the better riding tomorow. Mine to MI was wet going up and I fell asleep on the way back. 55 south is sooo..
Sponsor It would be great if HD or AF wanted to sponsor this for some reason, but don't think we need donations. Someone to pick up the beer tab would be sort of neat though.:-)
off route We swung by the HD plant foe a couple of pictures and a t shirt. Some of the other detours about that time were for HOG pictures. You can figure them out by the spot.
Camera Angle In my humble opinion the helment cam seems to give the best view with the least amount of wing noise. Awesome toys (including, of course the motorcycle).
Be Safe. Jim, Things you may forget:
Battery for you key fob.
Quick fix tire patch.
Please post pics and vids. Send the spot on.
Still thinking about running with for the first leg or two.
Rob
The Year of Jim I like the concept. I'm 2.5 years from 50 -- guess I gotta start planning The Year of Ann. Although I think my husband probably thinks that's been every year we've been married! Looking forward to those first road shots from you and Mike.
Very nice! The helmet mount is a good one, definately feels like you're on board. Have a great trip, I think you'll enjoy yourself. Here's a link to my cousin's place near Mt. McKinnley on the parks highway between Fairbanks and Anchorage. Ride safe! http://www.juhlhouse.com/juhl_house/Denali_National_Park_Log_Cabin_Lodging.html
Toys....I guess you're right Responding from an iPad that I didnt need...you're right about toys.
BTW...u think about taking an iPad? Small. Light. able to blog/update from the road. I'm just saying' ...
I have wanted to ride the ALCAN highway for a long time. I turn 50 in 2012, so decided that would be my excuse for finally making the ride. With my wife's blessing and financial backing, I began to plan when and with who. I extended the offer to accompany me to a few close friends and co-workers. One committed, and then sold his bike (Sorry Mel, but you'll be missing a hell of a good time). Another, Mike S, jumped at the chance, and we will be doing a 6300+ mile, 21 days (or so) ride from St Louis, MO area to Alaska and back.... full info
