Thailand! Hey Ian! I am enjoying reading your blog greatly. I'm heading to Thailand in May and can't wait. I'm studying thai language at SOAS at the moment. What are your plans now? Slowly heading North?
Looks like you're having a great time. You're making me want to go to SE asia, but it seems that you'd have to like eating a lot of seafood!
That pub definitely looks like it's been transported straight from England - potentially a good place to watch football.
How humid is it out there at the moment?
Great to see the photographs and to hear you have been enjoying a relaxing time. The Thai food looks and sounds delicious too, we know you had favourite Thai restaurants in London so you must be loving actually being there. We look forward to your next update.
Following your travels! Hope you're having a great time, it's really interesting to read about your travels! How long are you away this time? Will look forward to seeing lots of exciting places, have fun!
following your footsteps Hi Ian, what a great time you seem to be having. The chinese new year photos are great. Your days seem incredibly busy, hope you give yourself a good rest in Thailand. Weather here is not bad at all so we are able to actually do some gardening. Can't imagine your Dad is too happy about that. Will keep in touch. Love, Aunty Chrisxx
Good to see how your travels are going Keep up with the blog updates - good to read.
A bit of advice - if you come across any building sites, have a quick look and see if you can get any pictures of anything with the Bahasa word for 'Cement' on it. You'll see what I mean!!

Quick Wow that was quick. Yep, you got it in one: the top one is 'no littering' and the next one down is 'no chewing gum'.
I guessed the first one was probably something to do with litter, but didn't have a clue about the second one until I saw the sign again at a different station with the translation written underneath.
Good to see you are finding your way around, apparently unphased by missing bus stations! The food sounds delicious it will be interesting to hear about the different styles of cuisine you come across. Will you be staying in Georgetown or are you going back to Feringgi? Look forward to finding out in our next blog.
Bon Voyage Great to see everything has gone according to plan and you are now ready to go. After years and years of study and achieving your PHD you have earned this fantastic opportunity to travel. Hope you see lots of exciting places and meet many new friends. Enjoy everything. We will be following you on your Blog. Take care. Love Mam and Dad
How exciting- great plan One of my favorite places in Thailand is Kanchanaburi so I hope you will consider adding it to your list.
Can't wait to read your first blog on the road. To hear about your perceptions and see your photos.
Happy Travels!
Bon Voyage Well, Ian
The count is ticking down and down, closer and closer to you getting on your flight. Good to have met you, and I look forward to hearing regular updates about the serendipitous experiences you are sure to have.
