Had a really good photography class with Joseph on Saturday. Checked out a fair bit of street art and graffiti that La Paz has to offer and got a few decent pictures as part of an assignment set by Joseph!! Couple of late nights with Oli and the boys had caught up with me a bit so went with my friend Felipe to the sauna and swimming pool saturday evening. Actually went back again today with Jules, Felipe, Benjamin, Isabel and Lise. Because of national holidays everyone has had pretty long and lairy weekends so nice to relax for a couple of hours!! Saturday night after the sauna went to a bar/club called Target. Absolutley quality night!! About 5 different DJs throughout the night playing all sorts from dirty dubstep to trance and house to Manu ... read more

Met my friend Oli from univeristy and his two mates Dan and Tom who I´ve met before on Thursday afternoon: Great to see the lads and in true British fashion celebrated our rendezvous with a couple of mid afternoon cervezas :) Had a wander around La Paz and looked into the possibility of getting a tour around San Pedro prison - one of the most notorious prisons in the world. Unfortunatley we only managed to get outside as this bizarre tourist activity has become somewhat more difficult to do in recent years! Showed the boys my penthouse flat before heading up to Gravity Mountain Biking to book our ride on the ´The Worlds Most Dangerous Road´, aka Death Road, for the next day. Spent the evening at Diesel Bar before moving onto to a kareoke bar ... read more

Went out for a delicious meal on Monday - almost couldn´t finish the steak I had, bloody massive!! Took a trip to the ancient historical site Tiwanaku on Tueday to see ´las ruinas´ that remain of the Tiwanaku civilisation. The pyramid structures are pretty impressive although much of the stone work remains hidden under a great earth mound. However much of the stonework from the temples remains intact after over 2000 years and its pretty incredible. Nearly as good as my wall I built at mum and dads new barn in Shropshire but still pretty impressive - pics up soon for a comparison!! Good spanish lesson on wednesday morning, followed by an afternoon of preparation for an interview with Adrian Villaneuava - one of the best musicians to emerge out of Bolivia in the last 50 ... read more

Few days since my last blog as I have been away. Spent the weekend at La Senda Verde animal sanctuary...more on that in a bit. On thursday, had my first photography class with Joseph, a professional photographer. Learnt a few excellent tips that I'm looking forward to putting into practice as well as an insight into the history of photography and having a gander through Joseph's own work. Spent the afternoon at the witches market in La Paz - a maze of streets where a vast network of shops offer buyers an bizarre assortment of goods including potions, amulets, dried sknakes, protection charms and other unusal items, none more notorious that the dried Llama fetus' which are used for Aymara rituals. Bought myself some traditional clothing, and travelling protection statue and a charango!! IOAB soon to ... read more

So totally back in the game as of yesterday following a pretty rough weekend due altitude adjustments! Yesterday was excellent; following a morning of proof reading for the latest BX issue which is out this week, went for a cheeky lunch to Chocolate Caliente cafe, where a set menu which changes each day offers 3 courses for 20 Bolivianos (about 2 quid!!). Went back to the cafe today for an afternoon lunch which included a spectacular meaty broth and lasagne in front of the tv for Chelsea-Barca!! Anyway, enough about munch. Went to the museum of musical instruments in La Paz yesterday afternoon which included a vastly impressive collection dating back to the nineteenth century. I took a shed load of photos which I will upload soon in order to show the 5 handed charango amongst ... read more

So I arrived in La Paz on Friday after couple of fairly smooth flights from Heathrow to Miami and then on to Bolivia! Woke on Friday at the Bolivian Express penthouse apartment located in the Sopocachi neighbourhood in La Paz. After a first experience of an empanada (tasty pasty like Bolivian snack) put the Timmy Landos on for a walk around Bolivia's capital elect. Spent allday roaming the city with Carina, Helena and Lauren - other interns who are working for the magazine! Took in a few cheeky museums followed by a much needed stop at a cafe for a round of Coca Tea and a snack! Due to senselessness and excitement, I decided that I was somehow not affected by the altitude sickness and so joined the team for a meal at La Suisse, failing ... read more
