Andersonville Prison Kent: I just happened to watch a History Channel program about the Andersonville Prison tragedy the other day. It seemed to be caused partly because of General Ulysses Grant's refusal to exchange prisoners with the Confederates. The South, with their limited resources were unable to handle the influx of Union prisoners causing many to die unneccesionarily. Anumber of the prison officers were tried after the war and one was hanged and the others received prison time.

Tree frogs Hi Kent and Linda, Wes is not your only family member who has heard of tree frogs...our cousin, Marvin, lives on Tree frog Ln. in Deland...he says when it rains a lot that the tree frogs will jump into the house when a door or window is opened. During the hurricanes they had a lot of them! Carole
Cuba If you see Castro, please do your diplomatic thing and talk some sense into him. If anyone can do it you can. Have you ever thought of going into politics???????
Beautiful Okay, I do not know what finally happened, but all at once I have finally received your bloggers and they are beautiful. And very interesting. The flowers must be out of this world. Can you bring any seeds back and "condition" them to our climate? Thanks and enjoy...Donna
Been there! Kent,
I worked at Lauderdale for almost 9 months and I saw it all: the parties, crazys, and the good that was there. I actually lived on the intercoastal while on a aviation assignment 20 some years ago when we imported a bunch of vintage planes and parts to Ft Lauderdale and stored them at the 94th Aero Sqdn restuarant.
Trees Are Nice As you are traveling, bring a few of those beautiful trees back with you. Your pictures and ones in Denver are quite a contrast! Thank you for the update and Happy New Year to you and LInda. And a very safe return...Donna
same same Kent,
Interesting, i must of had her secretary in Vientiane. But I cried out like a little girlie man. I pleaded with her to be more gentle but she couldn't spell it. To work she went as i too cried quietly. Can you believe i gave her a tip.....to stop!
See you next month on the hunting trip.

Where are the Pictures? Kent, I've never laughed so hard in my entire life. I think I'll send this out in a blast email to the entire district! I sure wish you would have had pictures of all this. They would have been on the front page of our newsletter!
The Grand Old Guy Just like the song you are a grand old guy. You have done more to aid the wounds of both sides than a hundred thousand governmental officals. We need you as an anbassador not only to the world but to those of us in the USA on how we can give our country a better name in the world. But I guess that is the reason we are in Rotary International..............to make this world a better place to live for our families and world friends.............thanks for all your thoughts and tour of Viet Nam......sure is different from the last time I saw it. You make me proud to be a Rotarian.............Have fun and come home safe and sound..........
from Colorado Spgs to Vietnam We're enjoying your travels. January 13th we're meeting Jane (Britton) Schmidt and husband, Fred, in Sanibel Island, Florida. I'll share your news with them.
You're having too much fun! Kent, I really want to come with you on the next big trip you make to Vietnam. I'm so impressed with all you're seeing and doing there! But most of all, I want you to return safely to D5690 and your Rotary family. We miss you! -- Geri
This is my 12 visit to Vietnam
My current mission in Vietnam is going to the home villages of all my neices and nephews that have helped me in Vietnam
In 2005 I biked from Hanoi to Saigon. Probably the greatest trip I ever experienced.
I look forward to returning to Vietnam and enjoying the people and land of Vietnam.
I will be staying with my former Rotary Exchange Student Trang and her husband Huan and daughter Sarah.
I keep a bike at Trang's house and will be biking around Saigon on short trips.
The cover photo is me biking the Red River Islands near Hanoi.... full info
