Second day Fougeres to Croan 44miles A challenging cycle today due to gusty winds up to 30mph, panniers create a lot of wind age. We managed to avoid the heavy showers. Our first stop was Vitre (20miles) passing through several sleepy villages on the way, all the inhabitants either in bed or hiding behind their closed shutters. The gardens were immaculate & the farms quiet, lots of horses, chickens, goats, donkeys & guinea fowl. Vitre is a beautiful town with lots of medieval half timbered houses some of which house cafés & all appear to be well preserved. The streets are narrow with many cobbled areas.
