OK, sorry folks, but its 2 days in one here, so be prepared for a long one! go make yourself a cup of tea or coffee, sit back and have a read............... Dave dried his kit from the previous day, shoes are starting to show wear and tear, but should last him to the end. He caught the Rekini Bus, to start todays trail, soon had to cross a river, down a bank and cross a fallen tree which he had to balance on, then cross and then up a bank, started the climb - a little channel of water to cross ( bet that he feels the drying of his clothes was a waste of time), as he crossed the water, there was a large crab, he says about the size of a fist, the ... read more

I will begin with what dave told me last night about todays walk, then progress to what actually happened on the walk, which was only 3 1/2 hours today, i say only, but that is quite a short walk by the standards he has been setting! He begins by telling me that its an uphill walk and not so interesting as before, or so he is told, he has bought water, bread and olives for tomorrow. It is raining today in Corfu, which they do get and normally torrential for a few hours, but this is more like the british rain, more persistent and dreary, so the waterproofs are on, the uphill journey is very tacky and slippy due to the weather, and a lot of todays walk is on grass, whereas the previous walks havent ... read more

so, the 2nd week begins, but he starts by telling me what he did last night, well to be more precise, he tells me what he had to drink and how many! please read carefully the end of this blog, as he has sent me texts to really wind me up, worth the read. anyway, his leg is more swollen now, and struggled to get his sock on this morning. he did managed to stroll around the village yesterday though and rested under the tree of idleness, laid on a lounger by the pool and read a book, then a swim and relax. On to todays walk, he made Lakones village in 70 minutes, wonderful uphill trails which were very hard in places, needed hands in places to climb a small rockface, but had a rope ... read more

'well after a 40 minute lunch break it was tough, leg has shin splint, hope from dunes, sand and that swim and muscle rub will ease pain. walk through olive groves pleasant. saw dead snake, black and whitebands, 1 ft long, lots of birds. one point roadhad fall onto beach, i get bye cars not. arrive at appartments to be met with large bottle of ouzo! small place here, have swim and meal and water for tomorrow before i hobble up hill to ... read more

ok, im not making apologies for the previous blog, and as i said i will mention it again at various points, but for now its back to the matter in hand...... the next text to relay to you is quite long again, and a bit more deciphering on my part, but here we go. Out of the village to Ermones bridge by the golf club, he spoke to 2 german ladies who were also doing the corfu trail, but have different maps and therefore going in a different direction, they are also carrying all of their gear with them some 12.5 kilos! whereas dave is having his possessions moved from appartment to appartment for him, and has to carry very little whilst he walks, he asked the german ladies if he will see 2 more golf ... read more

Ok, I am chucking this 'quickie' blog in, to remind you all of why we are doing this, me writing and you reading! This is for the Corfu donkey sanctuary, as they are self sufficient, and need every penny (euro) they can lay their hands on to keep this wonderful place going, am i begging you? your damn right i am! dave has put a very long time into training for this, and as he would ordinarilly go to corfu at least once each year for his holiday (vacation), this is completely different and out of his 'comfort zone' so please put your hands in your wallets/purses etc. and fund the donkey sanctuary in corfu. I will also have warn you that i will mention it again, and no doubt dave will upon his return to ... read more

as the heading suggests, im just going to relay to you the text in its entirity and maybe add a bit at the end. the reason i am doing it this way, is because it contradicts itself regarding views etc. i am not mentioning alcohol but if you think it like i did, it will explain a lot! 'The day of views is over. arrive pelekas. above sinaredes i detour to areostato restaraunt for amstel. great modern place with superb view over ag. gordis beach. back in groves up on ridge great views to gialiskari and glufada beaches. endless groves, i go slow it hot now, clouds go at lunch, nice views of villages and as i climb to enter pelekas great views again to pantokrator or to corfu town. stop for amstel at bar with ... read more

ok, the blogs are catching up, hope im not doing all your heads in by sending so many in one day? really need to catch up and get on top of it again though. I think my typing finger (singular not plural) is getting decidedly shorter! so, again he starts the wrong way! does an extra half mile, anyone thinking the same as me, its that beer and ouzo isnt it!!! anyway, once on the right road, he makes good progress to myritiossia beach , very steep downhill - Durrell says its the most beautiful in the world, not now it isnt apparently, its now a nudist area ( hey dave you dont recognise beauty when you see it!) bet the camera couldnt come out fast enough! The sand is blowing in storms, now a very ... read more

I have entitled this blog as 'success' as i was unsure as to whether i was able to post the previous one, nothing to do with Daves success on his trip. The next text is quite a long one, but tells a lot.... Its starts in Benitses, which is a mile point' so it must have felt good to get there. After an hours stop for lunch in Strongoli at Spiros Taverna, where he got free Ouzo ( with the amount of alcohol he is consuming, i am surprised he can walk at all.......) He walked past an old monastry and saw a sign to go to the right, but the area had just been mown, and no paths were evident, checking his notes its the right area, anyway, he goes on and comes to a ... read more

Hello, hopefully I am back to give you updates as to what has gone on so far, once again i would like to offer my sincere apologies to you all for the lack of updates over the last few days, not my fault I know, but none the less - very frustrating for us all!! There is much to tell, so i will do it in stages, i have saved Daves texts and will attempt to pass them on ot you in the best order i can, unfortunately, there is some news that could have wrecked the whole trip. Dave rang me on friday evening to explain what was actually going on, and i made him aware of the lack of blogs that i was able to post and the reasons behind it. Ok, i think ... read more
