Irun - where weirdly dressed men shoot pigeons in the street... Our arrival in Spain was about as disconcerting and unsalubrious as possible. Imagine if you will the well oiled machine that is the French rail network(hindsight is a marvellous thing), where facilities stretch as far as signs outlining the composition of carriages for each train. Luxembourg Ab - After the dangers of kamikaze cyclists in the Netherlands, and the Dutch propensity for wrapping entire buildings (and themselves) in orange, we were looking forward to a different pace in Luxembourg and France. Dal - Scotland. Land where my father (and subsequent family) lives. Sun. Green. Friendly. Will that do for an entry? Suppose not. We travelled on the Caledonian Sleeper to Fort William, in a 6' x 4' cabin (cell), bunk beds and a sink. Just about room for ourselves and our baggage. I'm sure Japanese prisoners of war got more room in solitary confinement... Still, once installed in our bunks, the soothing rocking motion soon sent us to the land of nod. Dal - Emigrating to New Zealand. Sounds simple enough. Four words. Since taking the decision to go life has been non-stop. luckily, sharing my life with a project manager of some repute (and a demon list writer) has made things easier, but with 9 days to go I'm filled with feelings of anticipation, excitement, and sadness.
