We left Provincetown to travel to Falmouth and another glorious sunny day. En route we decided to stop in Chatham, again on a peninsula - Chris likes places on peninsulas - go figure. Anyway the beach was stunning, albeit far too dangerous for swimming. You could feel the ferocity of mother nature, as the wind was very strong even on a beautiful day and the sea currents looked treacherous. The lovely houses perched precariously on the cliff edge looked desirable, until you heard one of the locals telling how the present day landscape was created only a couple of years ago compliments of a ferocious storm which left two cliff top houses at the bottom of the sea - maybe we won’t be rushing out to buy the uninterrupted sea view after all! Typically the day we left Boston for our drive down to Cape Cod was the best weather yet. We decided to drive through Weymouth MA - because when you come from the old Weymouth you should compare it to the new Weymouth. It was very picturesque, however we never managed to find the town centre - maybe it doesn’t have one. The Town Hall puts ours to shame though. The Cape is certainly much bigger than you initially think, and with beaches either side, a zigzag route proves confusing but picturesque. Discovering the limits on the roads is interesting and less than a week into the trip and Chris is already in trouble with the law. Maybe seeing a man coming towards you with his hand on his weapon was a sign of things to come. ... read more

September 12th started with rain and so we did what Mark Twain advised and waited. Unfortunately he lied, it didn’t let up all day, so we decided to visit the MIT Museum in the morning. It was really interesting and covered scientific breakthroughs ranging from underwater vehicles, robotics and the part MIT played in the moon landings. The worrying aspect was that there was a computer in there that Chris had used at the start of his career. Age showing through again! Caught the train out to the 'burbs and spent a great afternoon with a couple of friends. Amazing the difference moving a few miles out of Boston makes. The next day, boy did it change, mid 20’s and everyone appeared on the streets. It was so hot Cambridge threw a Caribbean carnival. Had a ... read more

Every adventure has a beginning and ours starts on the 10th September 2009 right here in sunny Boston, well we would like to say sunny Boston but unfortunately we have brought the rain with us and left the UK in a late summer heatwave, regrets already, not a chance. Starting from the beginning, our Virgin flight from Heathrow to Boston was very good, with our premium economy seats proving very spacious and comfy and best of all it was basically eat and drink the whole flight. Some people are not fans of plane food, but personally (this is Lisa speaking) I love it! We are luckily staying at the apartment of a couple of friends in Cambridge, unfortunately they ran back to the UK when they heard we were coming but fortunately left us a lovely ... read more

Where to go first. Sat at home on a wet day just dreaming of all the sunshine we are going to see. I'm told that planning is half the fun, well I hope not because I want all the fun to be out there doind things and meeting people. Start in Boston, Mass for a few days then drive down the East Coast of the US. A great way to start I think. ... read more
