why did you upload that pic??? Is the ugliest pic you have from me! can you change it??? pleeeeeeease!
we were both tired, I'll send you more and better pics of us, anyway thanks a lot for including me in your travel blog it makes me feel your real adopted sister... I'm very proud of having a bro like you...
saluations Good luck and well done - you should be able to make a little of the first and if you keep lying in the sun then the second will come naturally.
Merrissy Xmaschicochocho! That food looks deeeeluxe, as does most of the food on display in your pictures... well my friend, not sure about the being in bed part while the party was CRANKING outside... i think the outrageous meter needs to be cranked up a little matey! (just a thought :p)... so.. I wanna hear something "not andrew" like coming this way... maybe some sky diving, or firing off some huge gun or eating something fear factorish... oh wait maybe the outrageous post is coming with news of the new years... anyway homes....
"turn it up!"
Dhiresh on ice Very much so. it was awesome. Those moments on the ice managed to give me a little insight into what my South African friend (A kiwi now) is experiencing in Antarctica. It´s fun walking around with cramp ons on, and water streaming off the white in the snow.
The Christmas season in Buenos Aires I shall have a quiet Christmas day or a loud partying christmas day with whoever might be sharing my hostal in Buenos Aires. Ian, Alex and co join me in Buenos Aires on the 28th, and I shall spend New Years seeing Tracey off at the airport.
It doesnt mean that I wont expect presents tho!
National Lampoons Argentine Vacation. Yes I agree that they should stay in a nice hotel, as long as it isnt in the suburbs and within walking distance of the centre (mind you taxis are dirt cheap). If Alex comes I imagine he would love Palermo, with all its trendy fashion and cuisine. Although Puerto Madero is very new and shiney I think that it lacks the character and soul of the older suburbs. I may have to suggest it to Ian that he get a spare bed.
Is it an option for them to rent a nice apartment for the time? I also told them that I dont believe any travel medication is required (is that right?).
U2 should draw quite the crowd to Auckland, including (I fear) Alex and Zaks friend Adam, whom you may have the unusual pleasure of meeting. I am having little trouble reading your messages now, but the conversations are finishing after someone speaks too fast. When Tracey has returned home I should get pretty good tho!
I am in Macchu Picchu. Look forward to my next blog,
Andrew
Buneo, suerte, Tomas
10 months to go With 10 months to go it means there is still time for people to come over. Sliders on those dunes would reach new heights, but i think that the tow would not be necesarry. Been surfing this week and in two more weeks it will be snow boarding. Gonna have alot of new sports to practice when I get back.
Te Kaha will be great with a couple of surfboards!
Sand Boarding! Maaaan I wanna try that! Imgaine the sliders we coulda pulled off there... why was there no boogy board or real estate sign? surely they didnt think everyone was snowboarderiffic enough to tack the hill haha....
So admit it andrew.. what did ya steal mate? you know those guys work hard and you and tracey just go take it away from em.. tsch tsch :p haha
That oasis is something out of Arabian Nights aint it? man thats pretty amazing.. and I never thought it see seals hanging out in "bat country".
Once again a fantastico blog entry... has it been 6th months yet? I mean... is your trip almost %50 done? (hope so) :p
Inca whalers Yes, well,
I have corrected the spelling of whaling to wailing. Interestingly however you can find whale bones at greater altitudes throughout the Andes, and we visited a coral forest, from back when the Andes were the sea floor. That was an especially long time ago mind you. I didn´t go as far to correct the spelling of whome to whom or tuff to tough tho!
Nunca he visto algo asi.
Whaling and nashing I was surprised to hear that there were once whales on the volcano. Perhaps a prehistoric Tsunami had depositied them there? Did the whales live in the crater lake? Was the nashing the Incas did after the whaling anything like mashing? I imagine they pulped the whale meat to preserve it or maybe it was to make it easier to eat given the notorious state of Inca dental hygiene and their famously rotted teeth (perhaps it was too much whale meat?). Not that the Incas ever suffered much from any form of discomfort as their marching powders had a way of dulling even the most persistent pain (pity about their septums). Are the shauls they wore anything like the modern-day shawl? Serously though it sounds like, as usual, you are soaking-up up the history and surrounds to the maximum advantage and good on you. I thought the "crap" photo was quite artistic! Un abrazo, Tomas
Andrew clothes Ha ha, Peta is right, its quite strange to see you in your normal "Andrew" clothes but in some far flung (beautiful) part of the world :) As always its good to hear from you dude. Keep the stories coming. Hi to Trace :)
Great Read Im glad I had input to help the ball rollin on this great read :D So weird to see you in your plain "Andrews" clothes somewhere else hehe..... rock on outrageously... and eat like its your last meal :D
Will keep our eyes open I will start buying the paper and checking on the internet to make sure I get a head start on any coup. Thanks for the warning. As for our spanish, we have mastered the simple stuff, and have no trouble in restaurants and travelling, but our conversational abilities leave alot to be desired. It is alot easier to understand the spanish of Peru as the people seem to speak alot slower then in Argentina.
The incident with the lady on the street in La Paz was isolated I´m sure, and apparentley we missed out on the beautiful part of the city in our haste. We are currently in beautiful Arequipa (Peru), a city I´m sure you would appreciate. In a few weeks after doing the Inca trail (just Tracey, I might catch the train) we are touring southern Argentina. Very exciting. It looks beautiful down in Bariloche and Ushuiai.
"What do we leave behind when we cross each frontier? Each moment seems to split in two; melancholy for what was left behind and the excitement of entering a new land." (diarios de las motocicletas)
My story is one of adventure. A story of two like minded people embarking on a journey into a land whose oldest memories still mark her surface.
I am on the verge of realising my dream of touring South America, and throughout this diary that dream shall come to fruition. My travelling partner is my girlfriend, Tracey, whom over the last few years has begun to share my dream, and in the month... full info
